OK..bought the R80g/s converted to a splendid R100g/s pd with 1000cc OE barrels/pistons and 800 g/s twin plugged heads.
Adjusted the valve clearances etc etc and slowly cleaning her up...ordering quite a few goodies off Motorworks tomorrow so need a little bit of advice as to what carb this is that is fitted to my PD.
Definately not original R80g/s and I think may be from a 100RT but I honestly don't know:(.
Need to know as I will be ordering all new carburettor OE cables tomorrow and that'll cost a few bob so don't want to make a costly mistake
( hey, no liability for your replies etc :thumb2)

Cheers Kenny

PS Excuse photos, damned cold outside so had to send the wife out with a torch to take them :augie

Kenny the carb number is stamped on the vertical face which will indentify exactly what carb it is

Is that numbers I c an see on the vertical edge just at the front of the carb?

If you have 40mm carbs the cable length also depends on the controls - the only way to be certain is to measure the bit of cable that sticks out, the Siebebrock cat has the details.

And some Venhills are marked incorrectly, so order by length.

Dont ask.

iTS A LEFT HAND SIDE ONE!!!:comfort

If you have a copy of Haynes, there is a list of the different carbs and model numbers for all the different Bm's. Not sure what year yours is so cant give you details .If you hav'nt got haynes let me know what year it is.

OK...(she wasn't impressed but I did hold the umbrella for her :rose)more photos....number on carb is 94/40/111...( Thanks, I never knew the numbers were on the carbs :blast) so it is an R100 1981 onwards.

Also, bike has an Odysey Hawker battery...will my optimate charge this one OK or do I need a special charger ???

Good point re the cam gear Rob...bike still a while from firing up so I'll check that out if I travel 15 mph on full throttle :D

Vern said you never do more than that anywhere at the best of times.

So the whole engines a 100 then. If it's got the right cam in it it should be good for 70 BHP :thumb2

Maybe for the better, as I'm quite disappointed with the kit. I do feel more modulation but no more stopping power - still needs full 4 finger hard sqweeze for an emergency braking.

However, I ordered mine from Motoren Israel in germany, next day it was on its way.

Saved me some money :)

Mine has a standard 285mm rotor, but isn't solid. Looking at the Wunderlich one, they only go up another 15mm in diameter for over £350 . You do get new brake lines, pads etc etc. The HE on adds 35mm onto the standard rotor diameter, but isn't a flaoting disk. The floating disc is I've been told is one the cheapest performace fixes. Just need to get the HH pads fitted to see how much difference that is. And at 10% of the cost of the new rotors etc, I'm hoping it'll be real VFM :)

Glad I saved you money...shall we call it 50/50 :D

Big box of goodies arrived for the G/S PD today....so she can be restored to a former glory:bounce1....once I get back from the Dragon Rally this weekend :)
Service kit, correct plugs, carbs fettling, new cables all round..stainless goodies..all the next day delivery and great communication skills from Motorworks:bow ( You watch, cables won't fit next week :D )

I'll stick with the stock set-up brakes on my other g/s..well they are all new parts anyway!!

Oh, anyone know the correct gap setting for the lower smaller spark plug ? If not, I'll just go for 25 thou as per top ones

Just out of interest Kenny. Whats the ignition timing set to?
Rob, I havn't got that far yet as sorting my Krappysacki out for the impending rally this weekend.
Will attack it next week...I'm a lame duck when it comes to timing though...I suspect it may well be set up correctly but I've no facilities if it needs retarding etc. ( So bring your gumminses to llangollen rally:D)

I was just curious to see if the timing had been set to a different setting to suit the twin plugging.

Might be able to save you some more money. I've a spare set of cables that weren't supplied by Motorworks or James Sherlocks for my 88 R100GS. Strange how both cables were the same length and longer than the ones I took off, and gave about 20 degrees of slack in the system :mmmm

Checked the Motorworks ones and they're the same as the old ones, just need them to be delivered now, and the snow to go away.

Bike was twin plugged about ten years ago...so I'm hoping it was all sorted between then and now!!:)

Forgot to order lower choke cables:blast...not that important at the moment as most can be salvaged for what little use they do...so if anyone has a set....:augie

Looking forward to getting stuck in next week now....and Vern has just taken away my S/S Boxerworks fork brace for some drilling re twin disc set up:bounce1

Bloody Scally. Ducking and diving. Just tell us what it's set to :D

I was hoping you would let us know what setting it was at for future reference. It seems to be the biggest bone of contention with twin Plugged bikes. I could never seem to get my 80 Paralever running correctly and ended up with it set at the standard timing marks.
