Ok so we've got a Scala Rider team set pro which has been ok but now one of the units has a knackered battery. It seems once this happens you have to throw it away and buy another....(unless you're handy with a soldering iron and an iPod battery!) so which comm should I buy? I like flexibility of Bluetooth but certainly don't want this to happen again, I want something that's going to last! We have an BMW RT, tomtom rider, two phones and rider/pillion. Suggestions on a postcard please.....

Autocom !!

FWIW I have the Sena 10r and whilst (touch wood) it's not gone wrong, i does have a seperate external battery which you can replace and it just plugs in without having to break out the soldering iron etc. I understand but I'm sure that someone will be along to correct me if I'm talking out of my arse, that the firmware in the sena will allow it to communicate with other manufacturer's equipment. However I must stress that I've never tried this.

Hope that's useful.

Thanks for comments. Gone for Autocom SPA kit, mind you had to remortgage for it! One question though, I've got the direct battery connection kit was going to take the live switched off the aux plug at front of the 2012 RT is that the best place? Some threads suggest the aux plug at rear but that doesn't power down for 15mins and I don't want to put anymore strain on battery than I need to..

Eddles I had the SPA connected on the under seat socket for 2 years in the RT with no problem. When switched to the GSA wired it from a fuse box to prevent interference.

Makes your eyes water buying the bugger but worth it, cracking bit of kit.

Thanks Roadcraft I'll just wire it there then, will be easier than running it all the way to the front.
