As per the title, what coolant does the wasser GS take? I've looked through the handbook and done a search on here but can't find the answer. The dealer will have some but is close to 20 miles away and halfrauds is just down the road, but it seems there's more than 1 to choose from:nenau

My bike had blue coolant in it, so I put more blue stuff in when I needed to top it up - the dealer hadn't refilled it properly after the engine change.

Is there a BMW car dealer closer to you? They sell the same stuff that's used in the bikes.

BMW coolant is easy to get and they use the same stuff in all their vehicles so you can buy it from a car dealership too. They really need to do something about picture resizing on this site...I can't be arsed anymore resizing them just for this forum

You should be able to buy pre mixed, if its concentrated dilute with distilled water, 50/50, tap water is not recommended in any modern vehicles, manufacturers use differing spec so ideally use bmw in this case as a top up,
Roamer,

Thanks, I've got a bottle of distilled water in the garage from Halfords so I'll use that if the dealer has only the concentrated stuff

I use the water from my condensing tumble dryer. It also goes in my steam generating iron and that's still going strong after 5 years and no limes scale build-up....so the wife says:augie

This is a common approach but I've stopped doing it for mixing with coolant.
We need to draw a distinction between dissolved impurities and particulate impurities.

Your condensing dryer (or in my case a dehumidifier) water will be free from dissolved impurities because of how it draws water from the air inside of the drum (in my case how the dehumidifier draws water from the air of my woodworking workshop).
The filters that both use do not have especially high grade particulate filters- bits of lint in your case, bits of wood and metal in mine.
I don't know if the dryer lint and fluff is harmful to engines but I'm pretty sure that wood and metal is, so I haven't done it with any of my recent bikes.
The water still goes in the iron, however.

YMMV of course.

Do what Steptoe does when away on a trip; just piss in it.:D

I don't

Good point, I'll risk it for the small quantities I'm using...and it smells of summer meadows.
