What do mouses like to eat?

First mouse caught last night.
I'm using a live catch trap so the wee fecker was released in Loughbrickland this morning :D

The problem with the humane trap is that the feckers make their way back after release so you end up catching the same wee hoors over and over again. Just kill the bastards.

LMAO. :jes

My exact thoughts too. Not politically correct though - You'll have the EU brigade, RSPCA, Wild Life Trust and Animal Liberation Front etc etc up in arms protesting.

Tae A Moose

Wee, sleekit, cow'rin, tim'rous beastie,
O, what a panic's in thy breastie!
Thou need na start awa sae hasty,
Wi' bickering brattle!
I wad be laith to rin an' chase thee,
Wi' murd'ring pattle!

I'm truly sorry man's dominion
Has broken Nature's social union,
An' justifies that ill opinion
Which makes thee startle at me,
thy poor earth-born companion,
An' fellow-mortal!

I doubt na, whiles, but thou may thieve;
What then? poor beastie, thou maun live!
A daimen icker in a thrave
'S a sma' request:
I'll get a blessin wi the lave,
And never miss't!

Thy wee bit housie, too, in ruin!
It's silly wa's the win's are strewin!
An' naething, now, to big an new ane,
O' foggage green!
An' bleak December's winds ensuin,
Baith snell an keen!

Thou saw the fields laid bare and waste,
An' weary winter comin fast,
An' cozie here beneath the blast,
Thou thought to dwell,
Till crash! the cruel coulter past
Out thro' thy cell.

That wee bit heap o' leaves an' stibble
Has cost thee mony a weary nibble!
Now thou's turned out, for a' thy trouble,
But house or hald,
To thole the winter's sleety dribble,
An' cranreuch cauld!

But, Mousie, thou art no thy lane,
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best laid schemes o' mice an' men
Gang oft a-gley.
An' lea'e us nought but grief an' pain
For promised joy.

Still thou art blessed, compared wi' me!
The present only toucheth thee:
But och! I backward cast my e'e
On prospects drear!
An' forward, tho' I canna see,
I guess an' fear!

No protest if they are killed humanely but honestly could you look it straight in the eye and do the deed. I am the worlds worst softy when it comes to animals so I am afraid there are a few of these in our garden.

This one didn't need to be trapped by the way. It surrendered to SWMBO when she startled it by lifting up the planter it was hiding under.

Suppose I'm a big softy too, don't kill anything unless absolutely necessary, I. E. Coup de gras, even then I try desperately to avoid it. If my and my families life depended on it I wouldn't hesitate.

Humane traps are preferable but as Aiden states, pests can and often do return.

That Sir is a field mouse, pretty little things and I certainly wouldn't/couldn't kill one.

I released it on an old building site that hasn't (and won't) be touched for years and it's not close to other homes so hopefully the wee lad/lady will find a happy home. If I catch the rest of its family over the next few days I'll release them close by... :)
