Worth the little extra over the standard for a different paint scheme?

Bit like the SE from a few years ago.

Does it cost the same second hand in a few years :nenau

Just wondering :D

I like the paint scheme, but, when I saw the one at the NEC I was concerned about the red frame and it being obvious if the paint rubs off. At the NEC the one on the MCN stand had lost some paint near the footpegs. The one on BMWs own stand had not.

When I mentioned it to the BMW guy on the BMW stand, he commented that he hoped it was because the show bikes were pre-production - although I did see him pop along to the MCN stand a little later.

Note: No idea if owners of them have seen the same thing or not as pre-production issue might be correct.

Once the new model is out the residuals will take a significant hit regardless of the colour scheme. If money is an issue I would haggle the best possible deal on a standard colour.

I'm not a fan of the looks but what's your opinion?

I like the paint job but I wish they did it on a GSA :blast

Maybe in the short term for 1-2 year old bikes. But in the medium long term it will make no difference. Have a look at some other run out models.

The 1150 GSA 04 bikes still fetching big money.
Triumph Tiger 955i 06/07 bikes are still 5k in dealers. They were only 6K ish when brand new!
The 1200 (especially the Rallye and GSA's) are sure to hold up. Unless the new bike is a spectacular improvement. My guess is that it will be the exact same spec as the Explorer.
Heavier, more powerful and poor fuel consumption.
In 12-18 months time when good 2nd hand bikes are flooding the market do you think that the GS range will be ignored over the Explorer. After all on paper the Explorer is a superior bike. Not a chance :D

It will look cool down The Ace, Tom :thumb2 That's the measure of any bike, as you know.

I bought one at the beginning of March after test riding a gs last year.I did wonder if I should wait for the new model, but being honest with myself i don't need any more power and thought the handling and paint scheme were excellent. On top of that I wouldn't buy a new model in the first year of production anyway.

Don't get me wrong I'm not one of these 'wait for the new model' proponents. All I'm saying is that over a period of time the colour scheme won't materially effect residuals.

Btw I really like the Rallye - much better in the flesh than in the pics :thumb. Better choice than the triple black IMO

I think the rallye also comes with one of the packs bundled in, not sure which one though. Would offset the peice difference a bit.
