nothing normally, keep them empty incase I buy something.

trips then they get half filled, or as little as poss as its a heavy bike anyway.

big side, everyday items small side, tent sleeping bag.

i dont use a top box, its just means more stuff

As little as possible, but being an early 1200 I have a spare FPC and a spare ring antenna and appropriate tools. When on the CBR600 nothing other than the toolkit under the seat, and never yet needed it.

moved to a less specific forum :thumb2

I'm a bit like bakes - I carry very little. For the daily commute my work bag goes in the big side and takes my helmet and gloves when I get to work.

Big fuk off chain in the small side to deter the lahndahn scrotes.

Always carry my
  1. Puncture Repair Kit

  3. Compressor
  4. Wallet
  5. Mobile Phone

Even on short trips. :thumb2 Obviously on longer trips theres a lot more essential stuff.

First aid pack and spare goggles with clear visor in back pocket of jacket, box of matches and my mobile phone in a side pocket.

Very small Tool kit, wallet and light gloves in my Kriega r35

I know someone who is in a wheelchair, as he carried some tools in a bumbag.

The impact with the road damaged his spine.

Unlucky? Maybe, but he has had lots of years since to win the lottery.

Using Pannier to best

I've fitted a blanking piece which covers the left hand pannier recesses where you can't normally put anything.
In the recess(made to allow exhaust) I have elecric compressor with crocodile clips and "Stop n Go" puncture repair kit - all snugly kept in place and not taking any extra room in pannier. Also waterproof trousers if wearing leathers.

Spiders-probably............my panniers gather dust in the garage for roughly 50 weeks of the year, when required they carry clean pants and t-shirts,toothbrush,shower gel,a camera,a disclock and an assortment of mostly useless tools

Yes I also know someone who is in a wheelchair, he came of his bike with no bumbag or anything else except for ATGATT, unlucky? Yes extremely so WTF has it got to do with the lottery except the one you take getting on the bike the first place :eek

Day to day:-
1) Spare bulbs
2) Puncture repair kit
3) Compressor
4) First aid kit
5) Cargo net

On trips away all that plus:-
7) Small roll of black nasty
8) A few cable ties
9) Maps

:D

No doubt.:beerjug:

On a similarly grim note, I also know someone who made a very nice mess of their left hip, when the sturdy Abus disc lock in their ATGATT jacket pocket hit bone at about 30 mph.

...as we observed, it's a lottery. Sometimes though it's easier to win if one of the numbers is possibly filled in already.

Yes of course riding a bike is a lottery, however, don't we all increase our chances of 'winning' when we ride by wearing suitable clothing and (presumably) taking notice of and reacting to what is going on around us.

Life is a lottery..................but I still look both ways before I step off the kerb into the road.
