What do you think of this for a service price?

I used to use Rock oil 20/50 semi synthetic in my GS1150 and Harley FXDX, no issues with it.

Carry on using it - BMW's recent change to castrol is for partnership/financial reasons . Nothing to do with the sudden spectacular lubrication properties of castrol products.

Just got home from Aberdeen - £228.19 for my 12k service consisting of:

engine oil and filter change - 10W/50 Castrol Power 1 if you are interested
final drive oil change
air filter
valve clearences
synchronising the throttle bodies

Which means the 2 x 1 litre unopened bottles of 20W/50 Castrol will remain unopened.....

Thanks for that.

Seems to be near enough what i was quoted today.

Y'know, i am getting sick fed up of bmw's customer service -

Today i phoned Calterdon (inverness) and JC Dundee. I had to as they never called me back after i used their respective websites 'instant call back system'.

One girl said ' ohh' in a very disinterested way after i said - thought i better call you since you're not gonna call me' - ''how am i meant to call you sir??'' she said - she didnt even know about the system.

Exact same for inverness. And then she got all uppety when i asked what exactly they were gonna do in a 12000 mile service for approx £350!!!!!!

Fecking fed up.

Yes, we get the picture, several times over.

But, simply repeating it here is not getting you very far. Don't tell us. Tell BuMW, address etc. on the internet. While you are at it you can make them aware of your ongoing dissatisfaction with BuMW's quality control and their lack of after-market warranty care. Or is it easier to moan here and get cross with airhead bints on the telephone?

If your threads are anything to go by, your life seems to be one problem after another. Service the thing yourself, or find an interdependent dealer who will do it to your satisfaction and price expectation. If you won't or can't at least spare us the tedious details of your day-to-day miserable life north of the border.

Im with Wapping on this. You can vent on here, but it wont help your cause.

A friends dad owned a couple of BMW (car) dealerships, and Im told that they didnt take too kindly to bad feedback. (I know there will be some arguments against this - it is not ment to invoke a response)

Geographically, there is a huge catchment area in the north of Scotland (possibly the largest in Britain), and we are lacking a "proper" Motorrad dealership in the area.
The nearest one is Dundee which is a helluva trek for guys futher north. (I dont include Calterdon as they seem to be a car dealer with a few bikes)

I hear really good reports on here about dealers down south and I am quite jealous that we dont appear to receive the same care up here.

Having said all that, I cant really say anything negative about the service dept in Aberdeen - generally speaking, I take the bike in, it gets serviced, I go home again.

There's got to be a trade-off for living in a sparsely-populated area with great roads :thumb2

Al :)

You have got a decent mechanic up there. Stevie Smith at Motorrad east - been round BMW's longer than I've had hot dinners. Doesn't suffer fools though !!
