What does this bit do??

Newbie here, there is a junction box behind the seat on my f700gs, exactly where a disc lock would fit. The box is on a clip smack bang in the middle, so I'm wondering what it does?

Could it be moved closer to the other one? Or is there a good reason it is where it is?

Photo shows it open - there is a small electronic part (resistor?) in the half without the wires....

That’s normally were BMW put the factory fit alarm; could be the connection for that. I’m sure someone will be along shortly with the definitive answer.

Ah, ok. So may just be a bypass for the wiring loom. I'll cable tie it out the way and see what happens! I've no alarm fitted, so don't think it's a tilt switch or anything...
