I’ve noticed a few posts on ADVrider over the last 12 months or so where people have sprayed various parts of their bikes in something called bedliner. It appears to be a very hard wearing type of paint that looks scratch resistant. Does anyone know if we can get this stuff or something similar in the UK?

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks.

Adam

My understanding is that it is a black poly-rubber coating used on the load boxes (ie. load beds+liner) of pick-up trucks etc. Here we call it Tough Guard, or Tuff Stuff. It is usually sprayed on by specialists as is quite messy and needs specific spray nozzles etc. It tends to be rather thick and flexible and has a mottled surface. I know I once saw a tank coated with it on AdvRider!

Thanks for the swift reply BiG DoM. From the sounds of it, the stuff is readily available in the states however I visited our local Halfords in search of the stuff today but they didn’t have a clue what I was on about. Googling “bedliner” brings up all kinds of hits but not the stuff I’m after! I might visit a few paint shops next week and see what they think.

I've heard of it being called Rhino lining, and you will probably find an agent for it through some of the body shops, but as Big Dom stated it seems to be applied by specialists using breathing aparatus etc !

Doc,yep it is what our transatlantic chums use on their penis extensions, sorry,I meant to say SUV/pickup trucks.Apparantly, it stops their banjos from scratching the paint.... :D

Nice one guys.

What you are looking for is a "textured polyurethane coating". You might be able to ask for some "truck bed coating"

It's generally a two-part self etching epoxy system. The comercial version requires special spray equipment (has a mixing nozel) to apply.

The "home kit" here in the US is still a two-part epoxy, but you apply it with a roller. Here they are marketed under the brands of "Herculiner" and "Duplicolor " Truck bed liner kits.

This stuf is really incredible. If you want to coat something that you never want to corrode, chip or crack put this stuff on. I've seen it put on a whole bunch of stuff, motocycles included.

Try searching for 'Stonechip' I think 3.

Missed a bit that should read 3M also try (not sure of spelling) Schutz.

Hey Adam

When I first read this I thought that it was something to do with kids wetting the bed?

So I thought that either there was something that you needed to share on the BTB-C site, as in hiding the fact that there were some little DrAlfs runnng about or your incontinence pants had reptured................ :D
