I only hope I am one day in a position to undertake such an epic adventure as the one you have been on.

A Mental Case

Hi folks,
Going to seem a bit looney now. Well I'm going back to Mongolia for a week, going to hire a 4x4 and then come back to BC and finish the trip. The reason is purely unfinished business. As I'm riding around British Colombia, all i can think of is Mongolia. So I'm flying back, renting out a 4x4, will do about 2000km, and then fly back to Vancouver and take this trip up from there.

Great pics, great dit's, one hell of a journey, just cannot wait to head that way on the bike.

Think your'e right, he may have a little lady waiting for him, romance on the road, how we all dream of a happy ending. Remember Oisin they're not just for Christmas.

The last post and chorus! :-)

Hi folks,
I arrived in Ulaanbaatar no problem. The plan from here is to get a 4x4 which I collect in the morning, run the bollix out of it for 5 days in a loop and then fly back to Canada. As I'll have burned a bunch of days I'll be just hauling ass up to Prudhoe bay north of the Arctic Circle and then hauling back down and across to New York.

I'm not planning to blog any of it and for the whole time I'm going to plug out apart from occasionally checking email and using Skype to stay in contact with family and friends.

The reason is purely that I've been plugged into the internet forever be it with work or blah blah, and I wan't to use the next 6 weeks or so to finish off two books that have I've been scratching away at for nearly a year now. (Ask anyone who knows me...they'll tell you I'm a whores bastard for the internet!)

So for the remainder of this trip its just me, Sam Gamgee, and of course a big fuck off Toyota Land cruiser for the next five days.

Massive thanks to you all for staying in touch!

When he puts his mind to something - that's the way it stays...

I'm pleased - he deserves some space...

He's been travelling for a long long time at a full on pace if you combine all his travels...

He needs, as I have said to him, to have some quiet moments to absorb, reflect and put it all into a context...

The constant documentation and responding to comments was his choice - but gradually you can find you end up living the ride for those that are following and not yourself...

I hope he lives this next part for himself... We should all encourage him to I believe...

And thanks Oisin for one of the best serialised travel stories I've ever read. Better that going to the Strand cinema in Dublin as a kid wondering how Flash Gordon was ever going to get out of last week's fix. Enjoy the rest of your adventures. You need some things for yourself.
