What happened to my Oil level glass???

I think the oil level window is plastic not glass so would melt if the engine is left to run and overheated

. Strange how the 'glass' has distorted though and not simply popped out.

I'm not seeing any sign of the plastic window at all....it looks like it has popped out and is gone to me

The damage at the bottom is odd though...almost like someone's taken a screwdriver to it and tried to pry it out

Plastic is still place but melted and distorted.

The oil level drops below the oil window when the engine is running, so any emulsified oil will gather in the window.

Hence why it now looks like it does.

Left for another 5 minutes and you wouldn't have any melted plastic left to look at, and no need for this pointless rambling cluedo type of discussion.

its a melted sightglass . someone has left it running too long . DAMHIK . .
Mine eventually melted and burst spraying everything in my garage with oil .
replace the glass and change the oil it'll be fine . I've done 20000 mile since with no mechanical engine related problems

Fired the bike up a few winters ago and left it running , forgot about it until I seen the smoke billowing past the living room window .

Took steptoe's advice to replace the glass , change the oil and ride it

Fill the sump with yobbo brand cheap oil and ride it for 100 miles to flush out all the crap. Then change the oil for some decent stuff. Change the filter too.
