What happened to the monthly meets?

Since the UKGSER started I had always sorted at least one meet out a month where ever I was.After going through about 6 different pubs because of people whingeing about food/beer/venue/time/date/work and anything else you can think of I said I wasn't going to do it anymore and someone else could do it.Hasn't happened much since.Now I just fill my bike up every now and again and go for a blast on my own find a pub,have some grub and a pint and return back home.

One tip if anyone is going to sort it is pick a date and venue and stick to it.If people can't come for one reason or another then tough tits.

Why not go rural, like The Goshawk in Manley or The Leigh Arms at Acton Bridge. Good food, good beer and loads of parking.

I did my 5yr stint organising the NWest meet. Packed in when Phoebe was born, 6 Yrs ago.

As Vern said pick one venue , keep it same time same day and then bods can just turn up without checking in here first. Many a times in winter it was just me an Malcolm or Mark (earthmover ) but in the summer up to 25-30 bikes on a couple of occasions.

BTW Thursday might not be the best night as its bike night at the Raven .

Good luck , it would be good to have a regular meet again. Many a friend was made and day trips or foreign trip was planned

Yes Goshawk ... Haven't been there for years ... Are the burgers still good ?

Was in there on Wednesday with my Dad, can't vouch for the burger, but the venison was excellent.

For us southern nancies there's a popular bike night at The Iron Horse Ranchhouse in Peterborough on Thursday Nights. The owner/proprietor is a decentl bloke. It's an American themed Bar & Grill that do decent grub and decent ale. They also have an onsite burger van if sitting down and eating is not your thing or there's a good fish & chip shop if you prefer. You'll probably find me there most weeks on either my F800GS or the GTR1400 (soon to be 2015 GSA LC)... there is another GSA rider who frequents but I don't think he's a tosser. You'll see a diverse range of bikes but probably mostly cruisers. Facebook page here.
