I've had an e-mail from HD UK offering me the chance to "Win your dream ride anywhere in the World" if I book a test ride through an e-mail link they sent me.

I know nothing about these bikes at all but quite like the look of them these days & will probably take them up on their offer with a view to a potential purchase.

I don't want one for touring on or green-laning as I already have both of those options covered with the bikes I own.
I just fancy something that will allow me to plod around the country lanes in comfort, with my wife as pillion, & won't be too heavy or costly to run.

As we have no local dealer anymore I can't pop in & have a look prior to booking the test ride so I'm wondering what the sensible option would be for me to book. I've never even sat on a Harley before, let alone ridden one, but I do like the t-shirts.

Despite the rather coarse nature of some of the people in this section I respect the knowledge & experience many of you have of the bikes & would be grateful for any sensible suggestions please, though I do expect the usual amount of pish taking as well.

Thank you in advance Comrades.

Why not try, HD, Victory and Indian for test drives, unless you specifically want the HD badge you may find a better bike or one more suited to your needs from one of the other American manufacturers or even Japanese. Its best to be open minded about these things as the choice for cruisers is growing each year. Not sure if there's any Victory owners on here but I know there are a few Indian owners, also Victory and Indian come with a 5 year warranty.

At the end of the day its what ever floats your boat, but give some others a go if your not set on a particular badge, by the way they all do nice T shirts if thats a deal breaker!!

Fucking hell punk boy, there's a shiny new HD dealer on two floors and everything, it's less than 5 minutes ride away from tomorrow's Hockley meet.

They won't laugh at you turning up on your great big MBW and Twat suit........well I don't think they will as they seemed to like my Tomos when I last popped in on it; they all seemed to be smiling a lot and gesticulating in what appeared to be a friendly manner :nenau

Andres

PS No wonder everybody is jumping ship and moving into the Orange section, it's gonna be time for border controls in there soon!

The reason will all love our Harley's. :bow

He is from Lincolnshire, so that suits Timaloy to a tee

You're right, thank you. I don't think I'll be at Cafe Hockley tomorrow but I had forgotten about the new shop in Nottingham. At least I know where to book the test ride from now. Just need to decide what bike to take out for an hour.

If "heavy" really is an issue then avoid any of the "touring" models....

What's your Budget?

Less then 11k - Sportster - too small for a pillion... (IMO)

11k - 14k Dyna Low Rider or Fat Bob

14k - 17k Fat Boy

17k plus Road King or Street Glide

err that's about it..

Try a Heritage Softail or a Softail Deluxe. If you would rather ride a Dyna try a Fat Bob

If "two-up" is a criteria and "heavy" (although that is all relative) is a no-no....... Wide Glide?

Or if yer short..1200T...
