Where they bolt to the torque arm, on one the hole had enlarged then broke out, on the second the arm had split and gave weird rattle that was a pig to locate at the time, only when it went in for a service the technician noticed the crack, both replaced under warrantee
Sorry the second didnt split the arm the crack was just above and on the rear wheel side of the front mounting bolt, it gave all the symptoms of a dry suspension bearing, a sort of squeak over rough ground
Yep, both mine did, same for a mate who lives around the corner. Either we're both unlucky or you're lucky. I for one am not prepared to pay £160+ for a hugger that might be a good one or might be a bad one. If they can't produce a hugger to a consistent standard they should stop selling them....which they have.
Monday 24th July 2006-Motorrad Concepts Rear Hugger for BMW R1200GS
After just over 2 years of development & production Motorrad Concepts have recently taken the decision to discontinue production of our rear hugger for the BMW R1200GS. Development of the long awaited MkII version is also terminated forthwith.
Of possible interest to prospective customers is the fact that we are currently in negotiation with two European manufacturers who have expressed interest in taking over the project.
If all goes to plan our basic hugger design will be reincarnated by a manufacturer better able to deal with the production difficulties & quality control issues we previously experienced.
Don't expect any such product to be announced prior to Intermot this coming Autumn.
Motorrad Concepts extended front fender for the same bike is also discontinued.
In fairness to MC as a company - money back no quibble so I have no complaints with them - just the hugger.

One thing to note - when the hugger came the instructions were bizzare. Apparently you tighten the the two bolts it attaches to to something like 25Nm then have two people sit on the bike and then tighten to 45Nm
Not strictly accurate, but I understand the sentiment.
"Tighten the rear bolt to 24 Nm and then weight the rear with the equivalent of two people and tighten the front bolt to 42 Nm."
That may seem to be a bit bizarre, but those are the instructions from the BMW manual for tightening the rear paralever arm bolt. They are the same whether or not you are fitting a hugger!
