What make is this rack please?

The picture you posted is a bit small. Have you checked Touratech as it could be one of theirs.

I wasn't 100% sure if that was it :)

I'm trying to decide if I keep it and get a plate plus a top box to fit it (which I don't know what will fit it), or selling it and using a BMW GS one and a GS top box.
Thoughts?

Get the alt rider kit buncobooth posted, and any Givi box will fit. Their Trekker Outback range is excellent and suitably rufty-tufty for the hardened adventure bike rider, and the stickers they collect. Like mine. Oh and you can re-work the lock barrel on them so that fits your BMW key as well.

I use a Givi top case mounted direct on the ADV lower carrier. I’ve not used the OEM afterthought box extension frame.
It all works fine, looks the part and can carry two helmets.

If you want to transport three hamsters (small) in a topbox, by all means purchase a bmw one, the trekker 58L can take two people's clothing etc for a weekend without problem.

Givi sell the mounts individually, if you wish to go down that route for your existing topbox, or just get the adapter plate, which will probably be easier/quicker to do.

If you keep the Altrider rack you can buy the Givi mounting kit to enable it to fit most Givi Monokey boxes, check the box compatibility first though. My Altrider rear rack will work with the Givi Trekker Outback but not with the Givi Trekker.

You can get a helmet in a Givi unlike the BMW box.

Hi,

Quick question, did you mean that the givi locks can be reworked so that you can use the BMW key?

Thanks Mike

The standard Givi box have different styles of mechanism on the locks but it appears the Outback has similar key style to BMW

Yes; trekker has different lock/key from photo above and with minor mods, can be adapted to have bmw key operate it.

Just google it or search on forum for it.

I made my own box mounting plate and used the Givi kit from Alt-Rider for the mushrooms and lock pyramid. They even provide a template for easy location.
