Definitely replace the cat with a Y piece, and maybe an end can.

Fit Tobinators to eliminate the screen buffeting.

Fit Hepco and Becker engine guards.

Replace the standard shocks with Ohlins.

Fit some auxilliary lighting.

Get a Corbin, Mayer or Sargent seat.

How much more do you want to spend? :D :D :D

Jealous?

Let me see....
I have a yellow GS you've bought...a yellow GS
I have a Ti pipe you want a......
I have an Ohlins you want an.......
I have a Corbin, H&Bs, fender........................

Is it safe to assume you want to be fat 5'7" speccy and have my charm?:D :D

Soooooo many options here.....:(

One of the best is the Junking of the 'Cat' and standard Can for a Massive weight reduction and sweeter sound......;)

After that, the World's your Lobster!:P

CC

Come to Princetown, look at all the different mods, ask loads of questions and then.... get the credit card out!!!:D

Ypiece & Can

How does this affect the fueling?

Having been pulled for a noisy can before, I would rather stick to road legal.

And Straypuss, I am quite happy with my 6` slim but honed figure, and perfect eyesight.
BTW my bike is sun yellow not the pus colour of yours.

Fuelling will depend on your willpower......:D

It doesn't change significantly if you change the cat for a Y piece & use a road can (original or aftermarket). A race can will make it run slightly lean, but the EFi adjusts to correct this. For safety, I had the bike dyno'd after fitting the Y piece, race can & EFi chip I bought. I now know that it is running OK. Peace of mind for £30.

I've passed loads of police & live next door to two of Lancs Constabulary's finest. The GS seems to be the ultimate stealth bike as, even with a straight-through exhaust, it is relatively quiet at normal speeds. It's definitely a bit more fruity above 5-6k rpm, though......:D

HTH,

Firegus.........don't plan on any mods at this stage..........as the others have said, there's a long list of very common mods, usually led by anti-buffetting measures closely followed by additional lighting......

But Nay I say, Nay, and thrice Nay.......don't fall into their evil trap......

Just get the bike, then ride it......get a thousand miles in on it first and then decide which mods you need most.......unless you have unlimited deep pockets in whiuch case pull up a pew and open your ears (and wallet) ;) :D

Yes, I hear what you`re saying mate, I think i`ll put some miles on it first and then decide what I really need.
I`m going to pick it up this morning and it`s pissin` down, it involves a round trip of over 300 miles [ A roads & Mways ] so I will get a better idea of things when I get home.
After years of "decorating" bikes with usefull [ and some not so useful, bits & pieces ] I tend to choose carefully.
I usually go for protection stuff first, like huggers, fender extenders and screens, then the stuff you like but don`t really need.
The bike is fitted with BMW Panniers, and I will probably add a topbox, Givi seems the most popular option.
The Ypiece & can option may follow, but I am always concerned about altering fuelling and tend to stick to aftermarket road legal cans to be on the safe side.
Thanks again for your sound advice.

:D

Bought mine 2 weeks ago and have done about 500 miles so far.

Changes?

Removed tobinators for comparison purposes
fitted BBpower chip, remus Y piece and race can - major improvement in pickup torque and power, is noisier but only so you can hear it, rather inoffensive for a 'race' can. NB Eu regs call for 82Db, standard GS is <80, race is ~85 cf CBR600 @ 98Db!

Givi topbox fitted (a must), 52 litres, looks small and does not affect handling.

Looking into seats as I've put much effort into non pie eating (see defiintive seat thread)

If you want to meet up and compare cans pm me. I'm in South Glasgow
