What MPG are you getting

thats fine.. but just been seeing the 4-5K dip then more I ride it... that needs to go ;)
It will, if you go down the decatted headers and end can then you will notice the difference even more.

It is smoother, more flexible and fills in the sound/emmisions dip. You can usually be a gear higher than normal, or so I found anyway.

mmmm.. maybe one day.. I did want to keep this std.... I need to keep something std!!.. LOL

On that note, does anyone, who had a euro 3 bike, notice flat spots in the Rev range on their euro 4 bike?

I certainly do

WHAT, NO SHINY SHINY.

You cannot be serious

It does make a difference, they often appear for sale here, and it keeps the originals in good condition, for any future sale. Man's logic at work !

I didn’t have a Euro 3, but my Euro 4 has a massive flat spot between 4000 and 5000 rpm.

As for fuel consumption, 47mpg on my ride down through Normandy last weekend, top box and just me, on the way home 40mpg, however I was ringing it’s neck, being at an indicated 120mph. A little disappointing as it doesn’t feel like it had much more if any to give. Also noted the rev limiter cuts in at the very start of the red line, but can still pick the front wheel up under hard acceleration.

Not relying on the computers but using mileage noted down and amounts of fuel actually used when I am away on holiday it gets the following

1. Solo with half loaded luggage and sticking to limits with a few 100 mph blasts on the autobahns averaging 57 mpg
2. Two up massively overloaded luggage and sticking to the limits again with some higher speed autobahn runs again 57 mpg
3 . Playing in the Alps , two or solo up without luggage and sticking to all the lower posted limits with a few higher speed runs 63 mpg plus .

Funny though in the UK religiously sticking to the speed limits both the 2014 euro 3 and the new euro 4 bikes are lucky to get 52 mpg

Must be that there foreign air, makes your bike run better.

The bastards....

Yup, mine has it, my '14 bike had a very linear torque graph.

Was thinking of a re-map

@vans;my 2017 EU-4 R1200GS-ADV had a huge flat-spot between 3500 and about 6000 rpm.After a BMW SW-update it runs better as in stronger as any EU-3 R1200GS light or heavy crank I have test ridden before...:thumby:
No need to Hilltop it !
I get 36mpg average;worst mpg I have seen for the day running hard in mexico between 6 and 8000 rpm between 100 and 135 mph was 18 mpg...:D
Glad I got the ADV...as on the regular GS I would have run out of fuel at around 100 miles...
Love the bike now after the BMW SW-update !

Mine is up to date on SW.. but still something at 4-5 k...
depends how hard you ride them I guess, most people wont ever see it as they never really open them up for any period of time... but I see it most when overtaking... sometimes having to drop a cog which you shouldn't have to do...

No twisties at them speeds then............

Bimbling in company with a 125, 71mpg.
On my own, 50mpg.
Pillion and luggage, 45-47.

Mine’s averaged around 51-53mpg since new, with both the original 2014 engine and the replacement 2016 engine :thumby:

2014 vintage and gets 52mpg overall.
Sometimes "experiment" like just how much can I get to the gallon with careful gear selection, mild throttle use seen it get to 72mpg.
Then when more in fun mode down at 38mpg.:D

As to Shell Optimax, the inventor of the blend made it clear it was not intended for continuous use, rather he suggested I think every 10th fill up use two consecutive tank fulls then back to your usual.
This he said would offer the best value for money in terms of clean up of internals in the fuel system, injectors etc...:rob

I do this with my Golf Diesel (60mpg) could I say it makes a difference yes slightly better mileage / fuel return which on balance amounts to same cost, but interestingly when I use BP Ultimate I am convinced it is much better fuel consumption, but TBH rarely use the BP garage.:blast
Time to do some testing.

Not many BP stations around here so I never use it... interesting if if it does though?
