What oil filter and where from ?

I got mine from Jaws as I was getting some Bird bits from him. Not sure what brand they are, but if they're good enough for him they're good enough for me.

I prefer 20/50 oil and the Comma 'Classic' is better than the Halfords 'Classic' as it has not specs, though it might well be Duckhams Q...

If you cant get the old filter out, drill a couple of holes in the filter spanner and put a couple of screws through to help it grip....

They are cheap crap

But seemingly very popular ... I've been using them for years on my bikes and never had any problems. No need to overtighten spin-on oil filters but if I can't undo them by hand I got a strap wrench from Lidl/Aldi which does the job. Maybe that's not an option on the boxer engine - haven't looked yet as only had mine a few days.

Absolutely, just a PITA when the filters been battered with a screwdriver and there is not a whole bottom to screw into

No - you're right Works a treat on the Honda! All fluids were done before I bought the 1150 so won't have to go there just yet... something to look forward to

Yeah when the outer skin splits from the screw on base of the filter sandpaper and screws don;t do schit ya gotta cut them apart and weld something to the base and twist the night away

Having the ability to "Know" when tight is tight enough is a great advantage

It may do the filtering job but if you muff it up tightening too much it gets wedged in there tighter than a jocks wallet in his sporran!

But a BMW or Mahle one less than a tenner and you only change them every 6000 miles!

Don't tighten it too much then.
The torgue is 11 Nm which is very little. Use a torque wrench in the beginning to feel the proper torque.
And put some oil to the rubber seal.

i'd do it by hand.

oil the seal. screw on and bottom it. then 1/2 to 3/4 turn more.
