Hi it would be great if you could give me some ideas for comms systems, I would like it to be able to do the following.

1 Ipod input

2 Bike to bike with chargable battery option

3 use my stereo in ear moulds with it

4 have the option to upgrade to bluetooth for my rider 2

5 and listen to her on the back

6 handle bar ptt for bike to bike

I don't wont much do I? :D

Thanks in advance for your help Tom:thumb2:thumb2

No GPS?

EDIT: Dur :blast

Autocom do a flying lead to convert earphones into their system, and also do a Bluetooth dongle.

Radios will plug into any system..... charging will come from the bike, not the intercom.

Virtually any intercom will allow you to have either PTT (Push To Talk) or VOX (Voice Operated)

Realistically, you're probably better off sending an email to Starcom, Autocom, Intaride etc. with your specification and ask them what exactly you need and how much it will cost. At least that way you'll have a black-and-white comparison and know exactly where you stand.

Just ordered a couple of Midland bluetooth enabled PMR VOX radios to pair with the BT Midland intercom we've got.

The intercom is great rider-pillion and not too bad for bike to bike over very short distances so hopefully the radios will vastly expand the range.

basically all the big players will do the above for you.

Intaride www.intaride.com
Starcom www.starcom1.com
Autocom www.autocom.co.uk

I have a Intaride set up using there PMR Wintec A80 radios, which are built to the same standard as the popular Kenwood but there physically smaller and have a few other advantages that I'll not muddy the water with at the moment.
They can upgrade the Evo unit to take a Bluetooth module, also the Evo unit is digital so can have the software upgraded to improve an alreadt good system. I think they are very good, helpful staff, clear comms, and the leads that they use are nothing fancy so if a lead gets damaged just pop down to the local electronics shop and pick up a new one

Autocomm get a good rep on this site but I personnally don't like the way they put the interference suppression in there leads so making them expensive also the comm's unit itself is expensive as well. so over all this is the most expensive option, for in my opinion not a great gain if any

Starcomm I don't have any experience of so can't help you there.

Autocom aren't always expensive, they sell their goods at half price at a lot of shows, if Autocom is your choice just hang on for the special offers!

I have covered the many reasons on why we do add the isolation blocks on our systems many a time before.....the main reason again is NOT everyone want to run GPS and bike powered music sources so why add extra parts when they are not needed for them.

I think you will also find Starcom also run seperate isolation parts on their leads not built into the comms i.e. their Part CAB35 for instance

thats as maybe, but it still doesn't change the fact that Autocom leads are more expensive than a plain vanilla lead, which is all I said.

Sorry, just got to mention Baehr ... I tried the Starcom1 Advance, two Autocom systems on two different bikes and ended up junking them all eventually and fitting a Baehr system. Its been perfect since day one, I also added the Baehr integrated radio with PTT and thats been troublefree (and more importantly crystal clear) also.

Now that Motorrad Concepts has departed, I'm unsure of a UK dealer, but if you can find one, try it ...

BTW, one of the best upgrades I made in general with all of the kits was to get a custom fitted set of ear monitors and a female 3.5mm jack fitted to the kit, then plugged my monitors in direct, much comfier and clearer and ear-protecting to boot.

Ouch ...

Is this Baehr GMBH, the mother ship we are talking about ... not our north of the border friend?

Might be looking after the UltimaXL I've got a bit more carefully if thats the case, yet to see/hear better.

*Update*: Well, US importer is still supplying kits and one of the better resellers over there is selling as many bluephone
add-ons as he can get hands on (http://motogear4you.com) ... have to prod someone in UK into picking up the dist ...
