Am looking for an 1150 GS with around 20k miles on it.

What should I be loking for or more importantly, avoiding?

all the sad tossers on here who tell you that a 1100 is better......blah blah blah etc.

No hard and fast rules, but there are some out there which have a lot less corrosion on the engine.
Buy one of those, you always be happier with it.:)

Ummmm, based on my ownership at around 20,000 miles:

Check clutch for wear and slipping (its a £800 dealer job otherwise (or about half from St Eptoe ;:))
Check rear brake caliper bleed valve for corrosion
Check battery - it should crank over 'keenly'
Check state of exposed wiring for corrosion
Check rear shock for any sign of leaks (esp. if he's a larger chap who rides two up)
Ask about alternator belt replacement (which is due around then I think)
Ask him to start it from cold - it will be noisy and rattly, but should calm down once its warmed up.
If the under seat area is clean and tidy that might show that he takes the time and care to properly clean - but no big deal really. :nenau

I'd try and find a bike thats for sale with plenty of extra's because your going to end up adding them:thumb

Headlight conversions to HIDs seem popular and of course some alloy luggage.

There have been a few nice looking bikes up for sale on here recently.

Don't think you'd be lucky enough to find a low mileage 1100 :augie
