What sort of money would this bring

I was just thinking, if it's same on the other side it's an 8 leading shoe.....Needs setting up properly.

I would say 2xTLS. I have a 'double drum' Morini which would be described as a 2xSLS, which I don't think could be described in any other way (SLS+SLS?). So, in the interests of a 'standard' system of description, I would go for Kaister's description.

Lockyv7, just wind up the swannecks to full height and bung on some T3 pegs 'n' pedals, that'll give you a few more years of V7 riding pleasure!

The brake / hub that's pictured in this thread is a CMA 8 leading shoe. It's got the same set up on the other side. 4 leading shoe brake plate per side. Surely a bit of a headache to set up, but it's definitely very cool. I'm actually looking to buy one for a project that I've been building. Anyone that has one, or knows of one, please feel free to email me at [email protected]
Thanks
Jeff

i call it a 4LS. is that wrong? it seems so, but i don't care :D

i had one once on a different guzzi model. not as good as they look - no noticeable retardation, then lots. not much in between.

...assembled on the south side of the factory by....let me see....., I would say, Luigi Fabrizi......on a Thursday.

Nope .... Luigi is rostered-off on Thursdays. Giovanni moves over from handlebars on thursdays if required.

I don't think it really matters what anyone calls it to be honest. It's a cool old brake hub.
Calling it a 4LS is technically incorrect, but I don't think it even matters. I was just sharing what I know of that brake since I've been looking for one, and had learned a lot about it, and what it was.
I sort of doubt that it would work better than a 4LS Fontana, but who knows. I've heard some say that since it is an 8LS, it would be double the stopping power of a 4LS, but I don't think that's correct. The effective pad to hub contact area is roughly the same as a Fontana. It's just got the actuating arms for each separate brake shoe, so brake contact would occur on all shoes as you pull the lever. Rather than the cam action that gives some progressive breaking.
End of the day, I don't know or really care if it works better, the same or worse. I just personally think it's cool looking.
