What temperature?

Today out on a ride and at stand still lost my footing so had to set bike over on the right engine bar. No damage at all thank fully but some of the coolant ran out! Checked the level when I got it upright and it was under the lower level so I had to top it up. After taking the panel off to get to the reservoir/ expansion tank thingy the cap wasn't on so hardly surprising it let the coolant run out. Anyway jobs a good'un anf Fannys your aunt and all that but now keeping an eye on the engine temp which I hadn't done much before it varies from 80s right up to 100. That appears high to me, the fan cuts in about 98.

What do you all think, issue ? Or nothing to worry about?

Exactly the same as my GSA. I spend quite a bit of time in traffic so I keep an eye on the coolant level but no issues in 8 months.

That is the correct temperature range, both my LCs have been in that range, min about 78, max 100, fan comes in at 98/99 never seen temp go over 100 even in 36/37 ambient around Lake Garda this summer.

I only look at the petrol gauge and the speedo (rarely ). How do I find the temperature gauge?

Not sure about this, but I think the 'Eng.temp' on info display is oil temperature. I was concerned that mine runs nearly always at 99 which seem close to boiling point. Oil boils at much higher temp..

I think the coolant boiling point is higher than water, it was just those relatively high numbers i.e. 99 -100 that got me thinking that it was a bit hot. Matchbox, you find the engine temp through the info button on the left bar.

Of course, if the system is pressurized, the water boiling point is higher. So perhaps readings near 99 are not so surprising.

Temp is right and the fan cuts in at the correct time, chill all is fine

Water or coolant boils at 100c at sea level when water is pressurised the boiling point is raised. typically water can reach 115c in the cooling system that's why the pressure cap should never be removed when hot the coolant in the bottle is at atmosphere pressure so any spillage will not affect the engine running temp. unless of course the bottle is empty and air gets into the cooling system
