What the feck have I done???

I should explain that I have as much mechanical knowledge as the average cabbage. I ride my bikes and enjoy them. Fixing them is what more practical people than me train on apprenticeships for.

In order to fit my sat nav and the power for my heated jacket, I lifted the tank today to get at the battery on my 52 GS. It was running fine before I did the job, but now its running like a bag of sh*te and won't sit at idle. Any ideas? I'm taking it for a longish run tomorrow, so I hope that might sort out any minor fuelling issues, but your thoughts would be appreciated!

Check the throttle cables are seated properly anywhere you may have disturbed them..

Sounds like you have managed to unseat the throttle cable. look and see that it is fully into the little support bracket. There are photos on here about this.

Follow the throttle cables down to the injector bodies, make sure they're seated correctly.

Have a look on both sides where the cables attach to the injector bodies at the cylinders.

Back in the old days, that pic of the cables would have been up there in less than 5mins... Looks like we're all slowing down a bit with age

I remember the first time I did this on my first 1150GS - utter panic, rode it round to me mate's house - just about managed to keep it firing. He'd owned a boxer BMW for years and he spotted the problem in about two seconds - cue unending gratitude that my bike wasn't fecked plus huge embarrassment for my ineptitude.

Next time you have a problem with your bike, go to the "Stickies at the top of the 800/1100/1150 Oil heads page. Most of the common faults and cures are all list, including yours, which gets top billing.
