hi and help have been biking most of my adult life, am now looking to purchase a 1150GS.
helpful hints on what goes wrong,what to avoid etc

Youre in the same boat as me zed,iv'e just had a 3hour ride on a 1150gs and i loved everything about it apart from maybe the height,to be honest i want another go!

A black Adventure looks the best.

but a Black 1100 is the choice of many a wise man

Buy a 1200 if you liked sports bikes and wanna change over

The 1200 has not much street cred.. looks more like a toy than a big bike....too many boys with too much money buying them instead of sports bikes...thinking that it'll help keep their licence
(their is some decent people who did buy the 1200 and use it but most don't)

The hard core GS fan would pick the Adventure unless they are short in the leg

But i think both a good 1100 or 1150 would be a fine solid reliable buy and at good money...a late 1100 will get as much if not more than an early 1150....does that not tell you something
