I am off to buy some Torx sockets for my 2007 1200GS.

Somewhere I got the following list of those required:

T 20, 25, 27, 30, 40, 45, 50, 55.

BUT

I have just noticed that most are male ended, and some like the handlebar clamps are female ended.
Can anyone identify which of which I need?

Thanks

You'll find that a standard metric socket (can't remember which size) will fit the handlebar clamp bolts, so don't bother getting a special tool.

The only other things worth looking at are the gear lever clamp bolt - change it for an allen bolt, and the front wheel spindle - which needs a special tool.

If your socket set has the 'BA' range of sizes, you'll find that a standard 4BA socket is a good fit on the gear selector pinch bolt.

When I got my GS last March I went to Halfords and got a set of each, on clip bars, for not silly money ( though I can't remember how much now) and have only been short of one, which was the one for the the h'bar end bolts, and then got one of them seperately ( T55 I think).

Go on - you spent 10 grand plus on a bike - spend a tenner on the right tools

Not that it's a huge deal to carry around a couple of extra sockets, but where does MBW use T20 and T27 bolts on the 12GS? I'm not sure that all the sizes listed here are strictly necessary, especially if space is at a premium.
