hard to say

Iv just sold my 990 ktm to my best mate,he gave me £7200 which is what i paid for it,the extras i had put on were valued at about £1200,but to be honest if id sold my bike in the open market i dont think id have got anywhere near that, and if im honest id have taken all the bits off sold the bike standard and made some money back on the parts.I think you'd be better off doing that assuming your selling and not buying its a pain to put the old bits back on but your never ever gonna get back near what you paid imho......

I could take all the bling/farkle bits off but I sold the original exhaust, screen and shocks (which covered some of the cost of the after market bits)........but in any case I prefer the no hassle approach of looking for a discerning buyer who appreciates the 'quality' extras and mods and would look to do much the same to a standard bike themselves i.e. I'm sure there's folk out there that would appreciate the cost/hassle saving in finding a bike like mine 'pre-sorted' :)

....just a case of coming up with a reasonable value on the bits.

For sure

Yes for sure Andy,i agree with that,it just means that you may have to wait a while to find that buyer, and you have to weigh up if the price your asking is far enough away from a new one to make it attractive, because alot of people think if a bike has to many add ons its messed with to much, and one mans princess is another mans frog. But for sure you have some cool bits on it so someone will have a well sorted bike.........:thumb2

I have the time and have past experience of the waiting for the right buyer.....I know what your saying about the frog and princess (like the anaolgy :) ) and can understand why some people would 'fear' a bike modded by someone else (I'm cautious that way myself, it's only sensible.....however you can judge a lot about a bike by the owner;-), andI have a reputation easily checked on various biking forums! for looking after my bikes 'above and beyond' normal expectations.........not understood by many here!! :blast :aidan

Good luck with the sale Andy,im sure you'll get a good price theres bound to be the usual pisstakers along anytime soon, and the"if ya splitting it il have blah blah" lol mob,but you should get some more views on the pricing to.:thumb2

Must ask - why are you selling a bike that seems so sorted with all extras and suspension.
Have you moved to the ducati dark side or getting a newer model ?
:nenau

Good guess!.............Multistrada coming soon

...............you know the saying it cost me an arm and a leg......well the MTS1200 nearly cost me a leg (compensation moneys from my crash 4 years ago paying for it!)

My advice

"....Good guess!.............Multistrada coming soon" Take off ALL the extra bits and keep them ...because you will probably be buying another 1200GS before too long. ( I know, i made the same mistake although it wasn't a Multistrada);

Personally, I'd probably be willing to pay maybe £800 over list, mainly for the first items. Everything below the PCIII I wouldn't give you a penny.

However, I'd pay substantially more for each item stripped off the bike to fit on mine as an aftermarket accessory.

With that list, you've just got to strip it off and sell it on here, you'll make loads more. People seem to like a standard bike, particularly the dealers.

I've been offered £6000 PX (2005 GS, 15,000 miles, FSH, A1 condition) taking everything off except the Remus, Ohlins and screen (sold the OE items).....and that's without the bike even being seen! I think that price just reflects a standard GS, low miles, FSH, immaculate condition (even the front engine casing!).

So for a private sale bearing in mind that PX offer and sold prices I've seen on fleabay, in stock condition I could probably get £7000 and with all the kit listed above inc luggage (plus there's a few other bits and bobs....colour keyed sparkplug covers, BMW plastic valve cover guards, 2ltres ActEvo, RepRom....doh, forgot the TAG T2 bars as well!), £8000 would be reasonable?

Great looking bike, good luck with the sale, you should get what you want for that.

Your bike is and look immaculate, unfortunately the majority of buyers always look for the latest model with all the farkles they can get on for next to nothing. Best is to stick it in the for sale section and see what response you get.

Summer is here and best time to get it out there. Bike is worth what you want but my guess is you will struggle getting that with newer models with the same mileage going for less. All the nice bits are personal stuff, not everybody appreciate it the same :nenau

Good luck with the sale and more good luck with the ducati :D

If I was in the market the most I would go to even with all the bits would be £6,500 for a bike that age, as has been said anything below the top three items which you have to leave on as you have sold the originals will add nothing to value but would fetch money sold seperately.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Be sure to come back and tell us about the Duc.

Appreciate your thoughts guys..........as I have time in my favour (4 or more weeks) I think I'll try as is and if that doesn't work then I can always fall back on removing items to sell separately and drop the price of the bike.

IF

If you sell it to a BMW 'enthusiast' he may recognize the value (?) of the extra bits but in reality they make very little difference to the performance of the bike and although perhaps in our eyes they make it look a bit smarter the truth is, as has been said, People seem to like a standard bike, particularly the dealers.

Good luck with the sale, the bike looks mint. Not sure about the red spark plug thinggies :)
