What works best?

I tried the Scala G4 (two of them). They both sucked. Have just fitted Starcom.

As said above none of the systems do two things at once. I have the Midland BT2 and it works very well with good sound quality around 8 hours talk time. It will share music but only if wired. It doesnt let you talk and listen to GPS at the same time though, same as the others. It logs the GPS as the master so if your having a conversation it will cut into that when the GPS says something or if the phone goes. Not the end of the world but not as fully featured as a wired system.

Should also say the Midland also controls the music very well, RW, FF, Pause, Skip and all that.

Good to know no system will do what they claim, as in listen to music and hold a conversation with a pillion so I could be sticking with the intaride :(

In the market for a bluetooth helmet intercom, all it needs to do is
1. Pair with an Zumo 660
2. Pair with a pillion headset
3. Play music and directions from the Zumo to both headsets
4. Decent battery life, i.e 6+ hours playing MP3's

Thats it, phone stuff will be taken care of by the Zumo, so am I asking too much? :nenau

Any ideas??

Hi All

The Garmin 660 Zumo is A2DP Bluetooth, The Scala G4 & Q2 Pro is also A2DP Bluetooth.
Both Scala Units will pair nicely to the Zumo 660 without problems.
Make sure you buy a Bluetooth Headset with A2DP otherwise you will have issues, the G4 Works perfect with the Zumo 660.
However the Zumo 660 and ALL other Sat Nav units do not have "Multipoint" so you will NOT be able to connect two headsets to the Sat Nav at the same time, the first Sat Nav manufacturer to do Multipoint will be on a winner.

Check out the tutorial on the G4 above it will show you what it is capable of go through all the tutorial.
You will be able to stream music in stereo, built in FM Radio with RDS OF WHICH HAS NOW BEEN IMPROVED, Sat nav instructions, Mobile Handsfree, 2,3,4 way full duplex intercom, Firmware upgradeable, up to 10 hours talktime, "IP67" Certified water and dustproof, A2DP Bluetooth and a range of up to 1 mile Bike 2 Bike.

Last Autocom worked flawlessly for four years (and was still going strong)

I just replaced it with another, also from a comms expert (Chainspeed) who seemed to give pretty much parallel advise to Mick, for us with our predominantly touring / long ride use, hours of music and with multiple connected devices the wired systems are still way ahead despite wirelesss systems improving they are still not there yet.

For me 10 seconds connecting a lead every 1-2 hours is not an issue, especially if it means clear speech at well past 120mph and good music volume up to 100mph (with earplugs).

Also it takes seconds to hook up MP3 / Sat-Nav / Scamera Detector / Phone etc and I can connect them all at the same time with no compatibility issues or pairing problems and nothing to go flat / need charging every day.

For me the penalty of a wired system is very small compared to the advantages.

Cardo or Starcom

I had a Cardo Q2 and found it wasn't bad but not that great either. So last year I deciding to look at wired units and bought a Starcom Digital. It's wired directly onto the bike battery and has only blown one cheap fuse. I then wired it to the zumo 550 and that bluetooths to the iphone. I haven't put my ipod into the mix, but it has sockets for both mine and my wifes. (I use the mp3 in the zumo) I find with earplugs I can still hold conversations on the phone and hear the music at 80mph+ (not at the same time obviously).

Great kit and reasonably easy to fit, even if there's massively too much cable. However better too much than not enough I suppose.

LOL a bit damning as we would love to sell the bluetooth products but just cant get them working and multi tasking so have left it for a while as they are getting their just not their yet! The interphone and G4 are about the only two that you would even want to try IMHO but its horses for courses as a lot of people like the the bluetooth units!

From what I've heard from others that's the conclusion that I've drawn. I'm sticking with my hard wired Super Pro Avi for GPS, MP3, PMR, phone (admittedly that's on a Bluetooth dongle) and rider-pillion comms. It all works very well indeed and cost very little, purchased bit by bit, off eBay. The one fly in the ointment is the BT phone connection funnily enough  Will take one call and then the LED, on the Autocom 1273 dongle, stays constantly red and no more calls can be received :nenau I think it's possibly down to my phone...

I will try no to be so damning in the future! :thumb2

LOL, no please, carry on :D
