Just bought some Ram to speed up my laptop.
now the thing is it already runs 1gb of ram at 667mhz
i have bought a 2gb stick running at 800mhz.
if i run them together i know the 800mhz will slow down to 667, therefore giving me 3gb ram at 667.
would it run any better just running the 2 gig at 800mhz ?
or would i really notice any difference if i got another 1gig of 800mhz to give me the fastest it will run?
cheers peeps

don't worry about the milliseconds you're talking about...there's loads of other things to take into account anyway..

If you can get 3gb in it, do so. :D

you don't say what the laptop is. There are a few that wont run odd ram configs like a 1 gig and a 2 gig. The speed wont make much odds though as in laptops its usually the slow hard drives that slow them down. As for going with 2 plus 2 again it depends on the laptop as it might not support that much ram. Either way its completely pointless unless your running a 64bit operating system as 32bit cant see any more than about 3.5 gig of ram.

Depends on the laptop about the clock speed, but it may be that the clock is locked to 667 and so running just the 800 memory won't make it run at 800.
More RAM is going to make your computer faster than less RAM with a higher clock, but the slowdown is going to be that hard drive and the power saving features of your processor.
