A couple of back operations last year means my trusty Themarest is now uncomfortable.
What do they make that is as light, small and better comfort when camping.

Thanks
Garry

I went from Thermarest to Exped and the difference is amazing. The Dowmmat is a great piece of kit. :)

Exped Megamat. Bought one a couple of years back and it's about as comfy as my own bed.

Have a search for a thread by that lovely and peculiarly sexy Mr Wapping about a review of a camp cot by some Ozzie twat.......it was only about a week ago and it looked the mutt's nuts :thumb2

You might also want to consider the Exped Synmat range. Cheaper than the Downmat but I am very happy with my Synmat 7

Inflatable from Argos£4.99

I can only assume you have not tried an Exped or similar? The difference in price is fully justified (to me) for greater comfort, puncture resistance, built in pump, warmth from the down etc.

Each to their own I guess. :beerjug

Flipping eck, what a choice.
Thanks for the starting info.
Will get out looking this weekend.

Exped

+1 for Exped Downmat - very comfortable bit of kit!

Also my experience, the Exped's aren't cheap but the improvement from the Thermarest (which I had liked) is phenomenal. Worth note though if your back's a problem, they do take a bit more effort to inflate. It's nothing strenuous, just worth bearing in mind.

Back not that bad. I can still rattle a GS around but just want a bit of comfort. I've been having a look for deals but there is little around and at 6'5" im not sure if I'm looking for a full size or half size mat. I've Los seen these mats to lay them on that reflect the heat. Then I'm wondering if my old down bags are up to the job???
Good info though.

Correct, but I sleep better on my Argos special than I do in my bed at home....and with a £3.99 battery pump from the local caravan shop, I get a 4" thick mattress for next to nowt.

I bought an Exped downmat 7 DLX 4 years ago...still performing beautifully, really comfortable and packs down nice & small :D

Pairs rather nicely with my Exped pillow.....:comfort

Tried allsorts from cheap inflatables to the Exped9dlw.It realy changes your views on camping.Igot mine 3yrs ago,the comfort is awsome(dont over inflate)but what realy impresses is the fact that NO cold strikes up.With a decent down bag and your Exped oh and a tent your ready for owt!Bite the bullet and get one.

Exped 9. Had mine 4 years. Excellent. Warm and very comfortable. Recommend from this site.:thumb

I've just invested in a thermarest neoair dream time mattress. Basically it's a large blow up neoair with a foam topper wrapped in a cover with a brushed nylon top. 4" of side sleeping luxury. Coupled with a down bag that opens up into a quilt and it's like taking your own bed camping. Bulky (and feckin expensive) but will fit in the bottom of a GSA pannier. Doubles up as a spare bed at home.

As many will say "£150 for a mattress!!!!! I could have a 3 week holiday for that"

Well maybe, but my ability to sleep anywhere on anything has long gone, I love camping but also need a good nights kip if I'm riding all day
