Usually I'm a master at this:augie

But........when it's my bike, I just want to check with the collective :blagblah

May 2005 1150 GSA - 57k

Factory non ABS

Full BMWSH

Low 1st and Adv 6th

Black, with black engine

BMW Heated Grips

Bone stock bike, no extras or luggage (dealer isn't interested and will let me remove)

In very good condition, no fork brace or front cover corrosion or any on engine - small amount on rear hub (stud side only)

Mechanically A1, with no known faults and all consumables are nearly new

What's your take?

I'll give you £500 for it, and I'm doing you a favour.:rob:D

£3k.

More to the point, what are you looking at chopping it for ?...altho I imagine this is a fishing trip as you'll be buried between your two GSAs...won't you ?

Not GSA riding as much, at present

Been offered low £3's as a swap for a new Trials bike

I thought it was ok, in current climate and I could yield £7-800 for the bits

Mmm, might just go for it

I'm enjoying riding Trials more at present, than road riding

Just about right......IMHO......:)

Not worth selling at the mo JB, prices are bollocks.

People paying good money for poor bikes with lower mileage and shit money for excellent bikes with higher mileage.

It makes no sense when they do serious miles if treated right. Cheap shitty finish on the 1200 has lowered the values of the 1200 to such an extent that 1150 now look to be overpriced. Rotten 1200 are 10 a penny but good 1150's are getting rarer to find.

I pulled the ad for mine because it is too good to just give away for the sake of it. As a basic bike it would sell very quickly for £3500 but I don't want to split it as it has taken a long time and a lot of money to make a better than standard GSA. I have no worries about getting more than my asking price of £4850 if I split the bike, but I'd rather keep.

As a standard bike yours has to be £3500 then the new owner can spend several 000's getting it up to spec :blast:D

You aren't wrong Phil
You have seen mine and it's spot on - irrespective of miles
Just fancy a shiny new Trials bike to chuck at some rocks - then depreciate like a stone
Must be mad - perhaps I need a good bang on the head

its the nicest 1150 GSA ive seen, i always admire it when i bump into johnny.. if i didnt have 3 bikes in my garage i would be knocking his door down, i thought that it would be worth 4.5k plus

Cheers Steve - Nutty said similar in July/Aug

Fully loaded it should be as it's spot on

Funny old market place

It seems that low mileage is the desirable factor or low price with poor condition.

JB's bike is better than mine in the condition stakes (not by much but it is mega tidy). Worth £4500 as is but it's a funny market out there and there seems hard to get over to people what it is they are getting. They just seem to see £ signs and would rather buy a cheap ratty low mileage bike than a well cared for bike with oodles of life left in it.
£3500 for a tatty low mileage bike seems cheap but a well cared for well appointed bike for £4500 is better value for money even with higher mileage imho.

But your experience of having it for sale all summer without selling must be telling you this isn't good analysis, surely?

Mike, I've had a lot of enquiries. Yet only Bryn came to see it and he gave it a glowing report. I've seen lower mileage bikes sell for more than what I'm asking although they were far less well equipped.
I could split the bike and get little more than I was asking, but I don't want to at this stage.

I think the analysis is dead right.

Everyone was creaming over a 1200TC at £6500, which appears cheap, but the bike was rough with corrosion so imho it was priced about right. The current 1150 for sale at £3300 is a cheap bike, but there is a fair amount of corrosion on the front cover for a bike with such "low" mileage. There is a 2002 single spark for sale, similar mileage to my 04 twin spark with a lot less extras for £3900 yet we have no pictures and straight away there is an enquiry for the bike.

Break my bike down and it is a good buy, evidenced by the offer for the parts of £1350 leaving the actual price of a clean standard GSA with 41k miles at £3500. I don't think that is over pricing it, but hey ho that's life.

JB has been offered low £3's for his standard bike which is a dealer offer, surely it should be worth more privately than what a dealer will offer on a px? Removing the extras would probably net him over £1000 meaning that he should easily get £4500 for his 57k miler. People can't see the value of the extras, and only see £4500 for a bike with 57k miles.

I have replied to every PM sent on my bike, and have received about 50% back as acknowledgement. Personally I find this quite rude. OK it's not the bike for you, but please have the common decency to reply.

As it is, little un loves riding on the bike so I'll hold out for next year and see if prices recover. If they don't then I'll split the bike and get what it's worth that way.

Well said Phil

I agree with that

GS prices are generally depressed because there are too many of them of all variants for sale & this has hit private sales hard

Dealers are making it easy to get on a new bike with PCP led sales, further depressing private sales

However if you want to take a risk on a new bike that is fine

Only GS that are holding up are airheads - feck knows why as they handle & brake like a drunk kangaroo & have the power of strangled cat :)

Rose coloured specs and all that have lifted prices to £5-£16k

I would always buy a 1100/1150 on condition, service history and how it rides, I'd buy a bike with decent extras like good screen/suspension & seat and the rest is just tat that adds weight

As I said earlier - it's a funny old market place

It's a wake up call if you go on eBay and look at what bikes have sold for, (not what folk are asking).....I thought my Rockster was cheap last year but they've dropped like a stone this.
It's not going to get any better this winter when more PCP bikes get brought back.
Johnny....hate it when folk say if only I had the money......but, if only I had the money :blast

Enduro and trail bikes sell for crazy money, in comparison to bigger bikes too
