Been a long while since I sold a used bike privately (I usually trade in for ease) so struggling with A) where to price it and B) do I return it to stock and sell the bits privately? Ideally I'd sell everything together as I've enough on my plate as it is at the moment.

17 plate GS TE exclusive, 1k miles, with
BMW alarm system
Roadlok front disclock
Nav V
Vario Panniers with bags
Top box with back rest
HP brake/clutch levers
3 screens, puig racing, touring and standard with cymarc brackets
Black Akra can
Akra Titanium headers
Hilltop remap
New roadtec 01 tyres
+all standard parts

I'll sort out a proper ad when I'm home with pictures of everything but where would you see it price wise?
Anyone else sold a new ish GS privately?

first thing whip all the bling off bar the luggage sell on here

Panniers and top box will make it more attractive as a sales proposition. Strip the rest off and sell separately.

Price? There can't be too many for sale privately of that age (any?) to assess the selling price point. You will have to price it such that it's an attractive saving over an new one.

Here's a 17 plate with 1500 on the clock in a dealership: http://www.bmwapprovedusedbikes.co...._,00.html?currentCh=_V0IxMEE1MTA5SFo2MTc4NjM=

I reckon you would have to pitch it below that, including the boxes. Test the water at £14.5K?

Akra can and headers probably £1000 tp £1200. Check the for sale section as a few got sold recently.

Yeah, it's the age that makes it hard to compare against the rest of the market.
I guess I'll advertise it as a standard bike, without any extras yet and see if any potential buyers want any extras at the same time. Would just love to avoid the hassle of returning to stock - I know you're right though!
I'd take 14k for the standard bike.
Just checked the mileage, I overestimated - only 635 on the clock. Fuck my life.

Definitely sell the extras separately. On here it will go quickly.

It all depends how quickly you want a sale. As others have said you'll get far more back stripping off all the extras except luggage. A private sale on a bike this new isn't any riskier than a bike from a dealer and the buyer will get most of the factory warranty. I guess the only downside is that you can't offer finance but plenty of low interest loans around. £14K sounds about right.

They're circling :augie

I absolutely love it. Best bike I've ever owned. Sometimes though life just deals you a shitty blow, this is one of those times.

Really sorry to hear that.

It's at times like this we need our toys and selling them are the last thing we want to do.

Sorry to hear you have fallen on bad times. Not sure of your circumstances but I can share mine with you.

In 2015 I had to give up my 6mth old GSA due to other issues out with my control at that time.

I sold my bike with all my extras similar to what you have shown above. I now wish I had taken them off and just sold the bike as standard as it made next to no difference in the price I got for the bike compared to others which were for sale at the same time.

I agree with some of the comments above about keeping the panniers on the bike as this will add appeal to someone buying a GS. But I think from my own experience it's better to sell your other items separately. There will be plenty lads on here looking to save a few $$$ which in turn could end up giving you a little money left over.

I found it was difficult to sell the bike privately as most people spending that much money today use finance of some size shape or form. That's why I ended up selling to a dealer whom contacted me after seeing my add. Cash paid there and then and no hassle's with test pilots and such like.

Its a difficult one to swallow as having to sell the bike so soon after purchase means you take a big hit in a short space of time.

I wish you all the best with your sale and hope you manage to find your way back onto a bike in the near future. :thumb

Also interested in the can. I'm only across in Hull with cash waiting. Assuming it's undamaged and with all the bits (and box?)
