Serious question. It's not my bike but I did much of the work on it.

1979 R80/7. My mate has owned this since the late 80's with a hiatus when it was in the hands of his idiot brother-in-law.

We rescued it in late 2004 and over that winter I took it apart, gave it a tidy and since then it's had summer bimbling use only.

God only know what the real mileage is (I know that the owner suffered a speedo-drive failure many years ago in his impecunious days and ran it for a while before he could afford to fix it). It's displaying around the 90,000 mark.

Many years ago it had a new piston and barrel on one side. Mechanically it's sound, doesn't use any oil but the "restoration" is nearly ten years old so some things could do with revisiting.

Gearbox rebuilt by James Sherlock in 2009. Standard not messed about with electrics (points) and I insisted that it had a complete new loom back when I took it apart.

It sounds lovely (even my neighbour who knows SFA about bikes mentions how nice it sounds).

Standard ATE callipers with under-tank master cylinder (plus attendant poor paint around it as per usual), new discs & pads last year.

As it was when rescued:

I have no idea what it's worth or what he thinks it's worth. :nenau

Airheads have become popular and seem to start at £2000 for anything tidy. That looks nice, I would stick it on ebay with an £1800 reserve and see what happens.

Thats what I was thinking.
