Whats the “lowest” riding setting for ESA ‘18 model?

As I have had trouble with a intermittent fault on my suspension I have little (and I do mean little) knowledge. First the fault with the suspension was that in 'Auto' mode it would occasionally set itself to the 'Max' setting and believe me you do not want to be approaching a bend at a rate of notts in this setting....I got to calling it 'APM' (arse pinching mode)....Anyway my dealers seem to have cured it, how they don't know BUT they have re-programmed everything and fingers crossed....all is well

I think Freed is about right although there's numerous settings....Min....Auto....Max, mix in the Enduro modes and it all gets a little messy, so my take on it mixed with the Riders manual is

'Min' does lower the bike for "better ground accessibility".

'Auto' I find it easier to think of as self levelling, whatever the weight is on the bike it should/does adjust to while riding....This is the mode I use.

'Max' according to the Riders manual is for off road use, you really don't want to be riding fast on-road in this setting + when you come to a stop I found my feet would just about touch the floor.

When the encoding plug is fitted it gives a lot more and I really can't be bothered to copy the txt from the riders manual, needless to say it alters the modes yet again for road and off road.

As simple as it gets, you nailed it. :beerjug:

You have to press the button with the little shock absorber on it, below the ABS button.

I know that. It says ESA normal, hard soft. Then when I hold it down it toggles between passenger, luggage ,pillion etc.

I was asking what is auto? Is it automatically setting the suspension due to the weight it detects?

I have a 2017 GSA TE. Where is auto? All I see are the rider/pillion settings and the road/ wet modes.
I don't think you have a 2017 spec bike....in fact....I believe that suspension was replaced in 2015 with 2016/17 spec and now the latest with the auto setting.

Sorry mate seems you have the model a few months before us, I think they changed the modes mid year in 2017, so you do not have Auto

Had a read through the manual... yes funny that. Min is to assist access to ground (or something to that effect) and max best for proper off road. There is an implied effect the bike will ride lower in min and higher in max. The main reason this came about is getting the bike on the centre stand without putting my back out - yes my technique needs work but wanted a way to get bike as high as possible so the roll onto the stand is easier.

Good thinking about getting it on the stand easier, though if you put it in MAX before getting off then you may need a stepladder nearby! The manual also says somewhere that the MIN setting uses the minimum possible preload and the MAX setting, not surprisingly, uses the maximum possible preload, so these modes are definitely going the make the bike as low or as high as it can go.

And do not forgot about the difference in height of the sidestand................
