Whats the best deal I can get on a new 09 f800GS?

I have just had the best day out ever! I spent Saturday roadtesting a new F800GS. Someone described it as an angry wasp which, to me is a fantastic description. I am going to buy one. I've looked at monthly payments but have decided cash will be better for me as I hate being tied to contracts. The sales guy was reluctant to tempt me with extras to get the sale but I'm sure he will have some leeway if pressed.
Has anybody had any extras given as part of the deal, such as a jacket, T shirt, helmet, panniers or even discount? This is my first new vehicle purchase so I'm unsure how far I can push for the best deal. Any advice is much appreciated.

Hi Craig I find the best bet is to go in with an optimistic not unrealistic list of extras you want to be included in the sale. Be open and upfront with the salesman about what you want, be polite but but firm/confident. Remind him it is a cash sale so no credit / finance for him to arrange.

Based on this you should come away with a decent compromise, just remember you are the customer with the money (read his commission / dealers profit).

Don't feel pushed into a deal you don't feel comfortable with just walk away.

It is not unusual for dealers to get commission for arranging the credit facilities - so cash is not always the best way forward for a dealer.

So buy it on the tick and then pay it off assuming it works out better that way for you
