Any views anyone? I do find the numb bum syndrone kicking in after a few hundred miles on the stock seat.

a few hundred miles on the stock seat
????

Yer 'avin' a larf mate.

My arse will only do about half a tank to the edge of pain , then after moving around a lot, standing up, getting the missus to massage it on the move, bouncing up and down like a monkey on a branch- i can make it to the first fuel stop - say 190 miles if i'm unlucky enough to have remembered to have filled it up at the start of a long journey. :(

100 miles and that's it on my standard seat. Tried Melvin, improved by another 20 miles or so but seat too high for my tastes. Now got a Sargent fitted and thats made a big improvement. Still a slight ache but doesn't get worse and is probably down to the shape of my bum!

Yeah I know the feeling but I did do a Scunny to Whitby round trip last week with a one minute stop for some water, say about 180 miles, that was aching for sure.

mines and adv but I know that Bill Mayer do standard GS seats. Mayers and Russells seem to be the seats of choice for the Iron Butt rides. So if its heroic miles you want they are the ones to buy. Mine is fantastic I can ride all day literally.

Bill Mayer. Seat comfort isn't a factor I consider any more...

Just returned from France with my misses as pillion on our Adv.
Had to remove the grab rail and made a pillion seat out of an old life jacket which was filled with waterproof memory foam then covered the whole length of the seat with a sheepskin.
Fitted a backrest from a 1150 RT to my ali topbox and Bob was my uncle. Travelled over 500 miles first day with just tea & loo breaks. Over 2000 miles in one week without so much as a winge from the passenger / thinking of marketting it under the name of WIFESAVER.
