What's the correct tool?

My Dad had, what he told me was, a Churchill tank screwdriver which was ideal - I don’t know what happened to it! The usual tool is an old penny (1d) gripped in an adjustable spanner if extra leverage is required.
That’s the fella :thumby:

:beerjug:

My apologies - I had lost sight of this thread and I see there were a couple of kind offfers of old coins to which I didn't respond. I also missed the chance of a couple of meet-ups in the process.

So thank you for the kind offers.

I am 'between classics' at the moment (the last was a '69 Triumph 650) but should another find its way to me I'll be back in the market.

I can definitely see the advantage of carrying an old 1p coin in my pocked rather than a Churchill screwdriver. 😀

You actually need two of the old style pennies, placed together they made the right size.
Could also file them so they fit better…….easy to keep in a tool roll.

The other Paul

I have a collection of old Brit coins…. So if you want a couple of pennies give me a shout.
Can deliver them as I’m in Surrey.

Thanks Bubb!

Did you just say 'let's use that as an excuse for a meet up at Newlands'? :D

Damn….. you got me there…saw straight through my cunning plan.,!

A pussers deckplate “London Pattern”flat blade screwdriver would probably fit.

Might be a few kicking around online as government surplus.

That's exactly what I use on my T140.
