Hi all,

as the title suggests...

could someone tell me what the cost is likely to be? so I know what to expect when i contact MCE to get it serviced....

also what is done on this service?

thanks

Eoghan

When I bought my bike from there I was quoted £185 for the 6000 mile. This was October and it was the salesman so that figure might no longer be accurate.

No worries Eoghan - anyone know what the script is for the 6,000 miler? What gets checked etc.?

Do a search on here, there are loads of threads with copies of the BMW service sheets. Its probably the 3rd most asked question after what oil and tyres. I don't have my reprom to hand or I would post it up for you.

6,000 Service Costs

Here's one from last week - costly - hope it helps !
Cheers,
Mac

Quoted £250 by Vines for my 2010 GSA.

Just got mine back today - Southport have done a great job - £135.00 - also replaced the nicked BMW badge that sits near the ignition key slot.

Well happy.

List of work carried out:

Service
Adjusted valve clearances
Corrected engine sync.
Oil Filter x 1
Sump washer x 1
N/Stock Castrol 20-5 x 4

Mac,
I have to say i know why i will never use a BM dealer to carry out my PMI's...

£70 ph labour charge... i don't pay that to have HGVs inspected, so there is no frigging way i will pay it for a bloody motor bike'

£12.10 a litre for engine oil .. why didn't you buy it yourself at a price substantially less than that & supply it to them??

075 Lts of gearbox/ diff oil.... unless you have a serious leak you have been ripped off my friend .....seriously.

£6.30 for brake fluid?? .. a 1/2 lt of dot4 from any motorist shop is substantially less than that .... so did they replace all the fluid????

You are quite within your rights to tell me to mind my own friggin business... but there is no way i would allow them the privilege of charging me these extortionate charges ...... and i though Dick Turpin was dead!!!

If i was you i would be knocking on the service Managers door..... every one has to make a profit yes, but extortion is against the law..

I felt the same, only less strongly. Once my bike was out of warranty I did it all myself. In around the same times as BMW quote. Here and ADVRider has all the info you'll ever need, and often much more. There's even a step by step DVD available for a tenner....

freebie

got my first service free £600 off bike and free alarm vines of cateram are the best but you gotta haggle:beerjug:

Slightly off topic but my 650 is up for its 2nd service in aug (600 mile was 1st)
It will have done about 3.5k miles by then (I know, fair weather rider)
A) Does it have to be done by a BM dealer?
B)What sort of things will they do with this low mileage? (or will they just sting me and do everything on their schedule?)
