whats the hold up/do i reject bike

What have BMW done wrong, other than recall his bike, and hold on too it longer than he thought they should have. I had a clutch replaced by Ocean whilst on holiday on my 1100 a few years back. I only got it back on the 5th day. It went again on my way up through Wales, and I nursed it home, all because they didn't replace the cause of the problem, not the clutch, but a leaking seal, in the gear-box linkage. When I left it in again, at my home dealers it was away nearly a week, got it back job done. Another 5 years ownership, problem free.
When the Citreon Picasso first came out and I bought one, I had a recall happening on it once nearly every 2 months, I don't know why I bought another one, but it was still getting recalled for faults to be fixed, as frequently as a few years later. It would appear this is a frequent happening through-out all aspects of the industry. I personally wouldn't be rushing back, demanding this and that, I don't believe you'll find service different anywhere else.

If a supplier (in this case of clutch parts) notifies BWM that they've had some QC problems, BWM (Or any manufavturer for that matter) can only react to it by recalling bikes.....if this one had already been shipped there's no way around it but to recall after the customer has picked it up :nenau

It's always easy to start shouting about it but I can't see how they could have done anything different???

I can't quite make out from his apprently chemically enhanced ramblings whether he recieved a courtesy bike or not, but I'd agree thathe should have done in these circumstances.
bmw notified me recalled bike no problem, three weeks to source and replace clutch and thats not guaranted, problem, courtesy bike k1200s are they just trying to humiliate me cos i'm sure i look a right prat riding round with gs1 enduro boots and tour x helmet on a sports bike

 If they'd have given you a scarver, fairenough, every right to complain, but FFS, they've given you a K1200S for a couple of weeks and you're moaning???

Yes you may look slightly odd with your kit on it, but just go out and ride the bastard and enjoy it!!!

Are you a biker or a fashion victim???

It's free FFS!!!!

Sorry JNC, but I can't see a great deal of justification for your rant :)

JNC states: He's had the bike 4 weeks, it's been in the dealers a week and a half :nenau, they could have held it back before delivery, and done the warranty work. He'd have maybe not had the bike at all, yet...

JNC says he complained, they've given him the K1200s to ride around on, where does he state he's had to pay for it :nenau , point it out to me, please. I only see him complain about riding around in GS boots, so what! :nenau

I'm not getting at you man, but you didn't have a broken new bike, BMW seem to be shutting the barn door quickly on this occasion, before the horse escapes. You've had a bit of moaning to do, before you got the loan bike, but FCSK, it's a K1200S. It's only a week and a half in this shitty weather, I've been waiting on my new ADV for 6mths :nenau And they've had my old one since, it's still in the shop

I've never had any probs with our local dealer, this is my fourth BM, probably says it all really

Latest Word from Dealer in the States

My local dealer in California says BMW has shut down production of the 1200RT's & GS's until they get this problem resolved and can determine a course of action. The people who already have bikes that are affected are on the Priority list to receive parts first, followed by dealers with bikes shipped but not sold. There is no ETA from BMW as to when these parts will ship. BMW apparently likes to take small, decisive steps. All we can do is hurry up and wait...

That's slightly incorrect, dealers are still receiving bikes in the UK, only those affected are held back and will be sorted by the factory before being shipped. If your bike is delayed, any dealer worth their salt would find an alternative bike PDQ rather than delay the sale / your enjoyment any further, as already mentioned in this post.

JNC
As for bikes already on the road, sad as it is that your pride and joy is sitting at the dealer waiting for bits, but if you've got a courtesy bike FOC great, if you prang it, likelyhood is you would have been on the same road at the same time but on your own bike, the outcome and costs would be much the same.

I am hanging, I'm also assuming that as my bike should be nearly ready to be built, due here, 24th April, the mod will be done on site.

i ride my bike and lets say deisel spill the worst happens the fully comp insurance picks up the bill :D i ride your bike or anyone else's for that matter and my insurance covers third party only ,as stated to me by the dealer as well your covered third party,so i think outcome and costs would be a lot differant

I do not understand why you have to justify your rant :nenau

So they've given you a K1200s to ride well whoopy doo,
if you had wanted a wrist breaking tub of lard you would have bought one instead of the GS :spitfire
