Whats this gear lever bolt called?

It's M6 x 16mm pan head T30Torx

Actually cheese head, as the sides of the head are parallel, but a pan head would do the trick.

Like I said, put a drop of loctite on to stop it happening again or, you could add a nylock nut, in which case you would want an m6 x 20.

Can you not simply measure across that part of your gear lever with a ruler? It's about 20mm on mine (2011 GSA).

I could, but I'm not with my bike today.

Thanks AA, Ill take a look for one in a diy shop as my BMW dealer isn't open until Tuesday.

See post #19 Bear. Only the upper section of the hole is threaded. Putting it in from the top won't work as it wont 'pinch'.
Stick it in from the bottom with a drop of Loctite (other thread mangling compounds are available).

Thanks, I did see that post and I did initially insert it from the underneath, but it made no difference, the peg still rotated freely. Not sure why? I wondered if there was something that should press against the pug to trap it into place?

Ok, ive solved my problem. The M6 torx bolt does work as suggested when inserted from the underside, I just wasn't tightening it enough to clamp the peg in position!

Thanks for the help.:thumb2
