Whats this in the petrol tank ???

Doing a bit of renovation work on a mates early funduro, and found a rattle in the petrol tank. (no, not a kids rattle !).
On investigation, found an "AEG" transponder in there, rattling about.Can i presume it shouldnt be in there.If it SHOULD be in there, what is its purpose ???????
Its a little black shaped disc about 1/2 diameter ???????????????????????????????????????????????

It is a RF-ID chip that lets the police know how the bike belongs to in case of recovery. Datatag use the system. I am not sure about the particulars of your one but I wouldnt worry about it.

Mmmmm, may make sense lads, ive noticed a few "Datatag" stickers on the bike.I will check with the bikes owner when I see him.

datatag have one as standard that you supper glue to the bottom of the filler neck probably one of them
