Oh dearest James...
One had had rather one too many G n T's by this point hadn't one...
You don't remember falling on your arse and then not staying down long enough for folks to get their cameras out... I purely requested that you would recreate the said incident in order that evidence of ones condition could be recorded... :nenau ;)

Now then.. to the question at hand... I take it its not some breather thing and that I need to simply undo the plug to drain the oil out... hopefully without it going all over the tyre.. then simply re-fill it... :thumb

Many thanks for all your mostly helpfull advice... :D

Just think Sue, all this pain and bollox just because you had to wash it... why bother.
Love John
PS. Have a good one

Hi Sue!

Next time you have a technical question, ask in the Womans Weekly too, and I guess you get a proper answer faster that way!
Some of us try to learn, and want to learn, and (this might be a suprise for the guys!!) some of us do know something! :D

And the next time one of the males here ask something they don't know because they think it's a girly thing, then we are NOT going to be helpful the first 24 hours!!! :P Ne-ne-ne-ne-neee-ne! :D

;) Liv.

Feck me, you can't do right for doing wrong :nenau

...breather, crud catcher, need a wery small funnel, oil level...

OK, at the end she got what she needed.
I apologize for what I wrote.

But did anyone tell her why the breather are there? (I know that was not the question, but still...)
I have heard (and I believe it is true) if you fill it up, and then ride fast/hard up in mountains, in hot weather, some of the oil might leak out of the breather - and that is why it's there, to let some oil out when it needs more room/the room gets smaller.
I have heard Norwegians expeienced that in the Italian alps, and was worried about it.
Things like that is good to know.
:)

Friends? :) :o

Nearly-but it shouldn't leak unless overful - the breather is at the highest point of the casing to let hot air out.
As the casing and oil and air heat up - the volumes change. If there was no breather then a seal would leak.
Thats why when you have a hot bike and ride thru water - as the casing is cooled down the cooling effect causes water to be sucked into the breather.

Thats why a small breather hose is useful to raise the inlet point. :thumb

That was your post number 600, Trippy! :clap

It was not right to write what I wrote.
But I had strongly in mind that Matron has left us, and a thread at Womans Weekly about a map for womans and the following replies.
It's not right to mix all this together, I know. But I did. I'm sorry. :o
And I too often experience (in life) that when I, a girl, ask something or tell something, that is technical, too many male treat me bad, like I'm a 5-years old or something.
(To not know, and to not be able to learn, is not the same thing.)

In a perfect world I can have fun, make jokes, act odd, and still people think I might know something, or are able to understand something that is traditionally only in the males part of this world.
I mean;
it is possible to be a girl, to laugh of the jokes you guys love, know how to use a sausepan AND to know a thing or two about the inside of a motorbike or a car.

Too often when I say something related to engines or simular, something I know and I try to help some who wants to know something that I happends to know, too often men ignore me totally. It seems like too many men does not bother listen to what a girl say because all girls know is hair, food and soap.

There are female mechanics in this world...

But it's not fair to take it out on you guys! I apologize! :o
And please don't get me wrong; you lot in this forum do not treat me bad!

I'm tired.
Nighy-night all of you!
I hope you are still my friends in the morning!

:) Liv.
