Whats wrong with Harley Davidson Riders

I've met a few HD and similar styled riders down here where I live and they have been really nice people to talk to, not had a prob myself, I will talk to anyone on two wheels, in fact I will talk to anyone :D

even me:thumb2:thumb2 jeans boots and leather jacket, wear the same whatever bike i ride. ride most like an ooligan. who cares who waves, i dont:D

I'm a lot of things but not keen on being labeled a biker. Just because the knobs I saw on Sunday ride a vehicle on two wheels doesn't mean for one moment that I want to be lumped 'together' with them.

Quite right too!

" I am not a number "..................or some such cobblers..:augie

how would you define"biker"anyone please?

Off the top of my head:-

Someone who has a passion motorcycling, and regards bikes as more than just a means of transport...

Not vey erudite, but that's the best I can do at 07-20am :blast

I don't enjoy being 'lumped together' with many groups eithe, unless I have been the one that picked the members (so I'm happy being part of my circle of friends but not being part of my family :blast :toungincheek ).

We are, however, all out there sharing a similar experience. There are far more practical and easier ways of travelling than by motorcycle. Additionally we have all made sacrifices to be able to ride, be they financial or simply not doing something else while we ride.

I have been a British bike rider, a sports bike rider (or a power ranger as many of you call them), I've ridden retro 'pastiche' bikes, italian exotica and now I have a GS and a Harley. I can appreciate all of them and enjoyed them all while I rode them. That's why I am not abusive about the various 'tribes' of motorcyclists out there.

We all get our kicks one way or another. It's a big planet, let them enjoy it too :rob

I can appreciate them too, but I say as I see, and the dicks I saw pulling out onto oncoming traffic blindly because they know no better deserve abuse.

If they were on any other make of bike my opinion would be the same. I don't single anyone out for special treatment, a dicks a dick irrespective of my choice of two wheeled fun :D

yep that sounds good to me!:beerjug:

I had to smile the other night, I was crossing the road with my wife going to get some chips when I heard a HD coming up the road, however, it was very quite, which made me turn to look at it. The bike went past with one of our local HA's on board and I couldn't help but think, Blimey it must be bad when the HA's leave the standard pipes on so as not to be confused with the HOG group :D

Of course I could be wrong and no offence was meant to any HA's in the above post and I bleed easily etc :eek :beerjug:

have you noticed that the french/spanish shake their left leg to you in acknowledgement, tried it once missed the feckin peg puttin my leg back on and nearly came off the bike. ill stick to noddin.

I was riding through Greenock on my Harley on Wednesday and waved to a rider coming towards me on a yellow and silver 1100 GS and he made a very dismissive gesture towards me with his left hand.... ! :nenau

I wasn't even wearing my assless chaps !

why HD riders don't wave

10. Afraid it will invalidate warranty.
9. Leather and studs make it too heavy to raise arm.
8. Refuse to wave to anyone whose bike is already paid for.
7. Afraid to let go of handlebars because they might vibrate off.
6. Rushing wind would blow scabs off the new tattoos.
5. Angry because just took out second mortgage to pay luxury tax on new Harley.
4. Just discovered the fine print in owner's manual and realized H-D is partially owned by Honda.
3. Can't tell if other riders are waving or just reaching to cover their ears like everyone else.
2. Remembers the last time a Harley rider waved back, he impaled his hand on spiked helmet.
1. They're too tired from spending hours polishing all that chrome to lift their arms.

why goldwing riders dont wave

10. Wasn't sure whether other rider was waving or making an obscene gesture.
9. Afraid might get frostbite if hand is removed from heated grip.
8. Has arthritis and the pas t 400 miles have made it difficult to raise arm.
7. Reflection from etched windshield momentarily blinded him.
6. The espresso machine just finished.
5. Was actually asleep when other rider waved.
4. Was in a three-way conference call with stockbroker and accessories dealer.
3. Was distracted by odd shaped blip on radar screen.
2. Was simultaneously adjusting the air suspension, seat height, programmable CD player, seat temperature, and satellite navigation system.
1. Couldn't find the "auto wave back" button on dashboard.

Why I don't wave ;-)

10. New Aerostich suit too stiff to raise arm.
9. Removing a hand from the bars is considered "bad form."
8. My bike isn't weird enough looking to justify acknowledgement.
7. Too sore from an 800-mile day on a stock "comfort" seat.
6. Too busy programming the GPS, monitoring radar, listening to ipod, XM, and talking on the cell phone.
5. I'm an Iron Butt rider and you're not!
4. Wires from Gerbings are too short.
3. You're not riding the "right kind" of BMW.
2. We haven't been properly introduced.
1. Afraid it will be misinterpreted as a friendly gesture!

Been out on the GSA with a friend on his GS, two middle age bikers on their Sunday run, and we had to stop to turn off the main road when two young lads drove oncoming on a RD350 and an old XT 500. They simultaniously saluted in army fashion, it looked so funny, I laughed for minutes, my friend was mad, he thought they were taking the micky. So what.

i ride an Arley

and every one ignores me:comfort but i do love the thing soooo much mind you the guy on the gixer was a bit put out the other day when i sat on his tail down the twistys back from work:D when i pulled up next to him at the roundabout he just looked at me and shook his head then rode off in the other direction:aidan bet he didn't tell his mates down the pub that night:thumb2
