Hi Just trying to do a phone analysis of a 2010 R1200GS with rear wheel play.
The bearings seem to be OK but still wheel rock.
The wheel is tight.
Has anyone had problem with wear of the splines on the wheel aluminium flange?
Thanks

i have never come across one with worn splines:confused:
if the owner thinks this is the case, tell him not to ride it untill it has been diagnosed.maybe it is cracked, allowing some movement.
i have heard of some complete wheel carrier failures but have not seen one myself.(only the usual cracks around the disc mounting bolts).
mike
edit, would a 2010 bike not have the steel wheel flange?

Could he be confusing lower final drive support bearings having play with wheel play.

Its my old bike, carrier is aluminium same part number as the older bikes on the A&S website. He is vanning it up tomorrow and i will have a look

I put a post on here years ago about cracking of the rear disk mounting faces on the alloy drive flange, someone else on the same thread had an issue with worn splines on the male and female components IIRC repaired under warranty as it was a very rare occurrence.

As suggested by Steptoe - check the trunnion bearings at front base of the final drive case. Also feel between the dic and FD case while some one else shakes the wheel. If you can feel the gap change its a wheel bearing.
