I recently read a thread here where a short length of steel rod could be screwed into a real wheel bolt hole to steady the wheel when re-fitting. I like the idea but using the search tool I just can't find the post again. Can anyone help?

What's to search for?

You just need an old wheel bolt with the head cut off, or a similarly threaded piece of rod.

Some use a piece of round bar with only a short threaded section at one end.

Some cut a slot in the end for a screw driver.

Some knurl the end for a better grip with strong fingers.

Some just wrap the threaded rod with tape.

Me? I don't have one yet and just popped a wooden wedge under the wheel last time.

Agree all that would work but as I don't have any of it to hand I'd have to spend some cash anyway.
