Wheel Nuts

It happened to me last feb or march about 2 weeks after it's service and a week after the mot, I put a post on here and I'm sure half dozen others said they had had similar incidents.
Since my incident I have aquired a torque wrench and aside from a brief visual check whenever I go out on the bike ,I will now check the wheel nuts after service and mot or whenever anyone else has my bike out of my sight.

I thank people like Steptoe and Tarka who I believe posted the torque procedure and relevant settings. (Tarka must have been in a particularly mellow mood at that time as I don't recall anything caustic:D )

Wheels

BMW warn against using copper slip etc on whel bolts, accordingg to the gospel of Mr Clymer they should be tourqued up to 55ftlbs, and then after a run re-touqued to 70 somthing 77 I think After having a couple of "loose wheels," since doing it properly have had no more trouble.
dave (mono wheel ) GS. (never used to to hard on the spanner as I thought what happens if I got a puncture out in the sticks and could not remove the wheel-not a good idea!). ::beer:
