In my winter swap GS to GSA I managed to pick up a set of spoked wheels. Got them sent to Doug DR wheels to give them the once over. Then back and stripped and painted with few coats of hammerite.

The black finish is nice but I realise they will take some punishment with tyre changes, has anyone done this in past and if so do you advice laquering the hammerite or is its finish good and strong on its own?

I'd be tempted to leave just the hammerite, because if it does take damage it's easy to touch up. A lacquer might be harder to touch up without it looking obvious.

What's your plan for the spokes?

Sounds a good idea, I’ve put small bits of blue tack in the ends to retain the silver ends on the rim.

Then I cut plastic (don’t tell the eco warriors) straws sliced and to size so hopefully only a little scrapping to be done at the very ends. My hope is the paint won’t stick too badly to the chrome spokes.
