2610 arrived by post a few days ago, couldn’t wait to get it up n running, loaded the UK maps on and off to sit in the car and gaze in wonderment at my new toy !!
5…..10…..20…..30…..50 mins and still no Sats found. Dam it I’m going to have to break with tradition and read the manual. Ah yes I see, set indoor use, change location (seeing as I don’t live in Kansas) yep all going well, back to car. Another hour still no Sats, by this time her indoors thinks I’m knocking off her next-door!! Reyt I’ll try it outside, Doh cable not long enough to put it through car window, back in side to find extension lead, cable through kitchen window, gps on wheelie bin, fire it on and Eureka 4 Sats loud n proud in seconds. My cry of joy was answered with the reply “Does that mean we have to go on holiday on the wheelie bin now”
Wot a kafuffle
Oh yes the question= how the hell do you fit these Arial jobbies in the car, does it mean having trailing wires all over the shop ?

How longs a piece of string?

There are as many ways of "fitting" the antenna's as you'd like to make....

Personally i went for the Magnetic base on the roof, hide the cable inside the door seal down to the hinge, then hide the cable through glove box etc through any mould joints near wherever you wish to position your 2610...

Mine's been running fine for a couple of months so far.... no problems, no trailing wires and excellent satellite fixes within seconds, even from cold!

Hope that helps...

The initial one takes time anyway cos the porr machine still thinks it's in the colonies.

You now need to delete all the information on it so you can input the new home location.

Assuming your car has a heated screen you'll probably find an area in the corner of the screen where it isn't. The Mondeo I used to have did have the "clean" area, and all I did was put some velcro on the dash and some onto the aerial.

Same logic for the metallised ones I'd guess, but you may have to go to the rear screen and use the above idea, IYSWIM.
