Hi I know this subject has been covered before, my last GS1100 did 123,000 with out a hitch and was still looking goodish before a pratt in a truck hit me, the replacement a 95' 1100 has the worst wheels and ali ever after only 55,000, corroded spokes etc.
Question is can I get the rims anodised (purple) and rebuilt?? If so by who and how much? Is it possible to do yourself? I've rebuilt m/c wheels and cycle wheels before. Also can i get the rocker covers done?

I live down south for what its worth..:)

Apparently (posh word for 'I think I'm right in saying this), they can only be rebuilt using "specialised fixtures and skilled operators".

My rear spokes are going rusty under the flaking chrome so I've been looking into it myself. I've done a few conventional wheels for my old thumpers but there are dire warnings about trying the tangential spoking on the GS.

James Sherlock are advertising Stainless spoke sets for £70 an end plus £70 for fitting and around £30 for dismantling (wire cutters could be cheaper). They'll also do a quick polish for a tenner - dunno about anodising.

I've seen suggestions for changing one broken spoke so, it might be possible to change one spoke 30 odd times - especially if you use a dial guage to ensure the wheel is dead true after each one is changed.

If you're brave enough to try, and it works, let me know and I might give it a go myself (chicken).
