As tends to happen, thoughts of a new bike are swirling around my head.

I love my Guzzi V85TT and would replace it with another.

Wheels in Peterborough seem to have some good deals….are they any good to deal with?

I’m also thinking that it’s time to let my XRV750 RD04 Africa Twin go too. 😟
I bought I new in 1994, sold it in ‘96 and then found it again about 10 years ago, ish.
It hasn’t been ridden since I had new gold wheel rims put on it as the originals had rotted through…I kept the original rims, much to the other half’s amazement, as, well, they’re the originals.

It’s time to see if anyone will take it in PX. Or it’s new battery and MOT before a private sale I suppose.
I might approach my local dealer this week….then there’s a certain Stelvio at Teasdales….

Anyway, any feedback on the dealer at Peterborough both positive and negative much appreciated.

Cant help with the dealership, but Africa twin bikes are become some what of a bit of a collectable item these days, Bare that it mind when advertising or part exchanging it.
GLWYS.

Beautiful, new tyres too! On a bike like that I doubt a dealer will offer near what you could list and sell it for yourself. I think I'd put a new battery in it, change the oil, coolant, and brake fluid, maybe air filter, and advertise it as "just serviced and ready to ride".

You are, of course, 100% correct.
Still, the easy route is always the hope.

I had a brand new, earlier Africa Twin model, in the Blue n White colour scheme, great bike, super comfy, ride all day, but sadly I missed the oomph my previous older bike, Cbr1000f gave me.

Great looking bike, love the gold wheels also, nice touch. Top ones for sale, are asking around £6-7k, which is good news for you.

The original wheel rims were gold but no longer available from Honda so that was as close as I could get.
I think I’ll order a battery tomorrow and see if I can get it running again and booked in for an MOT at the weekend??

Should be an easy sell for you, what is the mileage on her? I am sure interested parties are / may be curious. :D

The mileage is 44,600.
Or 71,910km as displayed on the bike.
This bike was an unofficial import although I bought it new from an official UK Honda dealer. The Bike Shop (Faversham) Ltd.

The original Honda service book with my name and address in the front is still with the bike. As are the Givi luggage racks and one of the three red and white Givi boxes that I had fitted from new.

I’m going to order a battery today and will report back…

I’m pretty sure you used to frequent XRV.org as did i. It’s a shadow of its former self now. If I’m confusing you with someone else, sorry, but Xrv.org is a great source of info on the 750ATs. (And transalps and similar), and used to have a thriving buy&sell forum. Although most of the inmates were deeply sceptical of the inflated prices asked for ATs by the likes of Staffordshire motorcycles. Nevertheless I think you’d get a quick sale there for a realistic price.

Indeed you remember correctly. You may also be thinking of MarkVB, he’s from my area, loves Africa Twins and was also a customer of The Bike Shop (Faversham) Ltd.
I look at it from time to time and will probably post a for sale ad on there when I’m ready.
I actually got reacquainted with this bike through Adventure Bike Forum.

Staffordshire Motorcycles….they certainly weren’t shy with their prices but maybe helped those of us that own one??
Who knows.

One thing that I do know is that I need to try an not put EAT on the price I ask..Emotional Added Tax.

Consider an advert on here before going down Fleabay or any other route, average mileage in great condition, with new wheels and tyres, battery, new service, what's not to like.

Think fair price for a fairly brilliant bike, good luck.

Last year I part ex'd my Africa Twin for a 2 year old Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello at Wheels in Peterborough.Knew I would get a shit price for the Honda but couldn't be arsed to sell it myself and the Guzzi was exactly what I wanted.Salesman was friendly enough but had to chase him up to sort out the extended warranty, all sorted in the end.
Don't know anything about their service department so have decided to take it to Mototechniks in Stowmarket this year for it's annual service and first MOT as I have read good things about them and they are a recognised Piaggio dealers.
Sorry can't be any more help

Kimbo

I bought a few bikes from there, 2 second-hand ones and a brand new Aprilia Tuareg 660. They put me off with their low-ball part-ex valuations more than once and their aftersales is not great. They charged considerably more for the first service than any other dealership I've used, including BMW ones.

They have pretty much exclusivity for Piaggio stuff in the area (Northampton dealer no longer does Piaggio) so they have the "upper hand" in the region. They do discount quite heavily though...

It was the heavily discounted new bike that caught my eye. Big discounts don’t normally run hand in hand with top PX prices.
Cost to change is the important figure in my book.

I like all that I hear about Teasdales but it’s a 550 mile round trip.
Historically I’ve tried to by local but sometimes there seems to be something missing…

If you mean Robinsons Foundry they’ve got a new Stelvio in there for not much more than £10k currently

I do mean Robinsons. I test rode a Stelvio back in the summer. It was very nice but not as nice as the V85TT…I think.

Oh what to do. I have bought a battery for the old Africa Twin. I’ll fit it tomorrow and see what happens. The weather forecast has changed and now looks like it’ll be shit so riding to an MOT may be delayed.

Just a brief commentary on Wheels, as the OP requested,

Wheels Holding Company/Neil Steen - the filing history from Companies House revealed here: -

........ https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/12000990/filing-history

Like most bike traders, times are tough, but they appear to have repaired their gross margin last time. However there is a towering overhead cost, all the more so when you run with so many different marques, some of which are slow, low volume sellers, which creates additional staff costs. No divs for Mr. Steen last year incidentally.

Personally, I've always found them reasonable to deal with, right back to their early days trading, but I have never ended up committing to spending big money, just clothing, bits & bobs along with the tyre kicking. They are one of the few Goldwing dealers &, as is commonplace, they are required to operate a separate unit for the Honda franchise.

You’d think buying a new bike would be ace but I’m saving and now I can’t decide what I want :)

Your AT looks lovely though
