a classic freudian slip....I think anyway.....

However, even 35watt HID is bright..![]()
Where exactly is Les Based?
, and not to mention those oem lovely lights you so beautifully fu***d up

. Does the dipped beam on the GS stay on when the main beam is activated?
Does the dipped beam on the GS stay on when the main beam is activated?![]()
I have sent an email to Les as this is a must have upgrade as far as I am concerned. I love riding at night and being extra visable during the day.. I was told by a mate that they're not so good for main beam as they take a little longer to 'heat up' so not to good if you want to use the flash? he has a set fitted on the dipped beam of his K12 and PIAA for the mail beam. I know bugger all so am asking - is he right? or....... Does the dipped beam on the GS stay on when the main beam is activated?

Here's a thought for you all. If any conventional bulb above the standard wattage is sold, it is marked " Not for use on public roads". So where does this leave HIDs? 35watt is way brighter than Halogen bulb, as for 50Watt HID. Will a new law / regulation be introduced stipulating the maximum K rating for HID?
Originally if a bulb drew more current, it was supposedly brighter, but a 100 watt halogen would be illegal, wheras a 50 hid isn't, but is far brighter?
amazed (yes amazed) at the way the traffic parted upon my approach. Twas like Moses parting the waters & with a 35 Watt dip beam only..

I wonder is it the colour of the HID's making the difference ? I've noticed that daytime riding seems to be slightly different now with drivers seemingly taking more notice.
Just wait 'til I get my Wassallized HID fogs fitted.![]()

Not sure I agree there; I've had a couple of Suzuki Bandits now and traded one in for my GS ... one of the first positive impressions was the headlight, so it's hard for me to understand how anyone could knock them. You lot must be used to your Volvo's too much.standard GS lights are positively dangerous, they are that bad IMHO.
I believe the key thing is that regular (and halogen) incandescent lamps also produce a significant amount of heat as part of their quoted power output, so a 50/55W halogen may, for arguments sake, produce 25W of light and 30W of heat. HID produce a lot less heat, so more of the power being drawn goes towards making light, which is how they're brighter. Here's a thought for you all. I think you'd have a lot of fun trying to enforce that one or even implement it in MOT testing stations since trying to measure the colour temperature would be quite tricky due to the number of ambient factors which could affect the reading. Will a new law / regulation be introduced stipulating the maximum K rating for HID?
